It has never been easy to snag an Advance Dining Reservation at Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom ever since it opened in late 2012. But that has been especially true as of late, as reservations simply weren’t coming up for dinner availability at all for dates starting in late July. And now we know why…
Beginning July 27, 2018, Dinner at Be Our Guest Restaurant will transform from a la carte into a prix fixe dinner menu, featuring your choice of appetizer and entree, along with a personal dessert platter.
Appetizer choices will include the popular French Onion Soup, which will be joined on the list by Charred Octopus with citrus-laced fingerling potatoes, pickled hearts of palm and red pepper coulis; Escargot with herb garlic butter and toasted gremolata; and a selection of assorted meats and cheeses like chicken liver pâté, chorizo sausage Manchego, and truffle tremor as examples.
The entree choices will feature Grilled Center-Cut Filet Mignon with potato au gratin, Romano beans, Cipollini marmalade and a cherry-laced red wine reduction.
Also on the list will be Smoked Black-Eye Pea Tortellini with roasted seasonal vegetables, tomato relish, and basil-scented tomato water.
Additional choices will include Poulet Rouge Chicken, Saffron-Infused Seafood Bouillabaisse, Roasted Lamb Chops and Kurobuta Pork Tenderloins.
And as for that personal dessert platter? That has yet to be announced, but we can only hope (and possibly assume) that at least one of the offerings will feature The Grey Stuff!
Again, this new prix fixe dinner will begin on July 27, and Advance Dining Reservations will open up THIS FRIDAY, February 23rd.
We have now confirmed that Dinner at Be Our Guest Restaurant will change from one Table Service credit to two on the Disney Dining Plan. And Wdwmagic.com is reporting that the new dinner will cost $55.00 for adults and $35.00 for children. As always, we’ll keep you posted here!
What won’t be changing? The meal will still not require prepayment — your Advance Dining Reservation will just require a credit card guarantee as it has in the past. And guests will still be able to meet the Beast after dinner! So be sure to tell him we say “Bonjour” the next time you dine for dinner at Be Our Guest!

Teresa says
Breakfast and lunch will still be a quick serve credit, right?
Merry says
I feel like it will become a two dining credit meal at dinner and a one credit sit down meal at breakfast and lunch because yesterday was 180 days until my trip and i rang up to book my adrs, the only thing i was not able to book was a be our guest breakfast because they aren’t “releasing their reservations yet”
Chelsea says
*gasp* ARE THEY GETTING RID OF THE POTATO LEEK SOUP?!?
Erica says
Ugh. These prix-fixe dinner options are always such a terrible value for vegetarians. That veggie entree would be easily $20 cheaper than the steak & fish entrees at any signature restaurant. Same with getting a $5 bowl of soup vs a $20 octopus app. Guess I’ll be sticking to lunch only!
Kristin says
What a bummer! Already being a picky eater, character dining has always been a bit of a challenge. But nothing on this menu looked appealing, but that’s just me, lol.
Mark Greger says
These sound like some really amazing dishes but I can’t imagine this being pulled off at Be Our Guest. I have liked some of the meals we have had there over the years, but it’s alway’s been one of those restaurants that you go to to see the restaurant, not necessarily go to it for the food. They have to be doing this just to be able to say that there is a Signature/Fine dining option inside the Magic Kindom. If they get this to work and are able to say it is comparable it to any Signature/Fine dining restaurant on property, I will truly believe there was Magic involved.
Lee says
Sounds like a lot less food than, say, O’hana or some of the on-site buffets, for more $$$. This price increase, along with an almost inedible dinner we had there a couple of years ago, insures we shan’t return. We also don’t see what all the fuss is about the “Grey Stuff”. When we had it, we were told it was in the process of being tweeked. What we got was basically a chocolate brownie with grey icing on it. It wasn’t in any way tasty or special.
Tricia says
Pretty much saw this coming. Seems to mimic in many ways the decision they made at Le Cellier several years ago to make it a signature experience just to lessen the demand. This will definitely do that. We enjoyed lunch & dinner here on our last vacation and my entire family reported to me that they actually preferred lunch. A good thing since we are not fancy eaters and this new dinner menu wouldn’t be appealing to us. I would imagine this will drive up demand for lunch though. Time will tell.
Ann says
I was able to snag a dinner for March 12th. We have always done lunch here. It was kind of hit or miss. Many times I swore I would never go back. Despite food quality and service lacking, it always makes for a nice break from the height of the Fantasyland crowds. Now I am wondering about the value of regular dinner/pre change. The change might actually make it more affordable. Is dinner really worth it? Or should we stick with lunch??
Sharon Baribeault says
UGH on changes!!!!
Derek says
We all saw this coming. However that seems like a terrible value on the dining plan.
Clayton says
Is it just me or does it look like there are maybe 4 tortellini on that plate, tops? Very suspicious. Eating one tortellini will mean you’re 25% done.
Ceece says
Any word on wether or not there will be characters at dinner?
Ann says
We have been to dinner there 3 times in 3 years. The first two visits were enjoyable. Our most recent time in January(with our teenaged grandson) was less than magical. The price for the dinners , of course, had gone up; the portions went down. The vegetables were barely visible. The desserts had no taste and our Grandson and I did not even finish them. This is almost unheard in our family. We all enjoy our sweets. None of us are large people who have hearty apppetites , yet, we were all hungry when we left. Atmosphere is nice but not worth it. You can ask to walk in and look around. That way you can see the inside without wasting your money. Very disappointing!
Essie says
I knew that this was coming because people got too much enjoyment out of it, for them not to take advantage of us. 🙁
Alice says
I love escargot but the mussels were a yummy appetizer!
Jane says
I AM SOOOO DISAPPOINTED. AND I CAN’T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WOULD WANT TO CHANGE SOMETHING THAT IS SO SUCCESSFUL AND DELICIOUS. THE WHOLE THING IS VERY UPSETTING TO ME.
Meemous says
I am thankful that we got to experience it many times before this change. Sometimes it was amazing, sometimes just … meh. I do appreciate how Disney is always changing stuff up to keep it fresh.
Kimberly says
Will they get rid of the gray stuff dessert….me and my daughter we’re looking forward to trying it on our upcoming visit
Kelly says
Ugh. I knew it was likely going to a signature dining whereby ppl on the dining plan would have to burn 2 TS credits and didmt really mind that as i never use a DDP. but this menu doesn’t really thrill me , nor does the prix fix. I cant eat that much food. Why, Disney?! 🙁
Pam says
Well glad we went when we did. As a vegetarian, it was one of the best meals I had, but no way paying 2 credits for black eye pea tortellini. That sounds disgusting.
DFB Sarah says
Kimberly, we would expect the Grey Stuff to remain as an option on the lunch menu, and since it’s so much a part of the Be Our Guest experience, we think it’ll appear on the “personal dessert platter” that Disney says is still in development. If for some reason it does not, you could inquire about getting some during dinner anyway. Have a fun trip!
DFB Sarah says
Ceece, the Beast has been available to meet on the way out of Be Our Guest during dinner hours. We hope he’ll stay, as it’s a fun opportunity to meet him. We have not heard anything official, though.
DFB Sarah says
Ann, not having experienced the enhanced Be Our Guest dinner, it’s hard to say. We have generally enjoyed lunch here, and while our last dinner here was delicious, lots of our readers have reported that dinner has been hit or miss for them. That said, the new set up might offer more food for the price guests might have paid pre-change (say, if they had ordered an app, entree, and dessert). Honestly, it’s hard to know for sure. Sorry I can’t be more helpful!
DFB Sarah says
Teresa, yes: the enhanced dining is for dinner only.
Jamie says
Would the changes to BOG dinner explain the difficulty in obtaining a BOG breakfast reservation this morning at 6 am, 180 days in advance?? I tried to get reservations for Aug 22nd and I couldn’t get absolutely anything, at anytime, I tried every combination and other dates of my vacation. But it seems like most, if not all reservations for breakfast are nonexistent.. Any thoughts/Opinions??
Courtney says
How disappointing. I love the food there now. I love the braised beef and the garlic mayo dipping sauce for the fries and the seasonal salad trio. I’m sad they are changing it. Why would they change such a good thing? Do they want to make more money and not be so busy?
Kris Siebel says
No surprise
We were just there last week
Had breakfast on the 9th, it was fine
But dinner on the 11th was yuck
Food cold, felt like they just wanted to push us out
Then the photo pass photos aren’t even clear,
Very annoying
Not worth the money.
Emma says
I’m in the minority I guess because I welcome the change. This restaurant has long been the best dinner reservation at Magic Kingdom for our family and we consistently have a higher quality meal here than any other restaurant at MK. That said, the way their menu was structured left the kitchen with too many variations to prepare it properly, consistently. I’ve had plenty of meals here which were great, and then a few where you’re like, what happened here? It always felt like just too large a restaurant for the menu. With this new set up, it should allow them to more easily handle the volume. Heck, maybe when it goes signature they will close off one of the rooms and have less reservations because less people go as they can’t get it on the dining plan/it’s more costly. That will certainly up the quality of the dinner all though it’s sad less people get to experience it. As far as being a bad value on the dining plan, all signature restaurants are, so it’s no different there. I am however a bad person to talk about that as I don’t use the dining plan (never works out to be the best value for my family). Finally, and again, I’m in the minority, but I don’t think this was just them trying to ruin a good thing for the sake of making more money (although I’m sure they did think about that). There is no signature dining at Magic Kingdom but every other park has fine dining (no CRT does not count, that’s only signature cuz of the location and the princesses, the food is atrocious.) I believe Disney saw an opportunity here to create a signature dining restaurant in a park which really needed it. Heck, even Hollywood studios, the half park has a signature/fine dining restaurant.
Bonnie says
Ugh!! I knew this was coming because it’s been impossible to get a reservation there. However the last few times we visited there were many empty tables even though it was nearly impossible to get in. We have always enjoyed the steak with the pomme frites and the aioli. I’m gonna my to miss that. I would never use 2 dining credits or pay for a meal. The menu is extremely unappealing.
Very sad, change is not always good.

“That said, the way their menu was structured left the kitchen with too many variations to prepare it properly, consistently.”
The old BOG menu was *miniscule* compared to the number of dishes in almost any non-disney restaurant in the world.
Based on numerous experiences from others and our own, lunch is much better than dinner.
This is most assuredly NOT because there were too many menu items for them to be able to do a good job. It’s because they were not very good in the first place.
I cannot understand why you would try to justify bad food as being the result of “too many options for the kitchen to prepare properly.”. That’s a huge cop out.
Natalie Brown says
But will the Grey stuff still be available??? Ive been desperately trying to get a dinner reservation for the end of August but they just haven’t been open. This explains why! Im not sure I like the look of the new menu though, Im hoping theres some nice veggie stuff.
Kelly says
Super excited…..i managed to get an evening meal booking for our trip in August. It did keep asking me to call the telephone number, but I just kept refreshing the mydisneyexperience page until a reservation came up!
Good luck to those still trying!
lizzy says
Any word on if the Beast will be available during lunch times? I can’t see my kids eating the food mentioned above….
Lynne Sullivan says
I think the new menu looks awesome, I can’t wait. We love it here and I will miss the braised pork, I look forward to trying the new entrees. I will give people a tip on getting hard to get reservations. Always try to get them on the last day of your trip and always book it first. I have always gotten what I wanted without fail. The exception is a short trip of less than 4 days. Same goes for hard to get fast passes.
LeAnn says
Ugh! I loved it the way it was! My youngest child hasn’t been there yet. We don’t want to waste 2 credits each on disgusting “fancy” food. HUGE graduation celebration bummer!
Sarah says
I have to agree with Lee here- I don’t think changing the menu to prix fixe is going to help things at all. The menu doesn’t look much smaller than the previous menu did. On top of that, now every single diner is going to be getting an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Granted the dessert will be a set thing, but how hard was it honestly to make a bunch of cupcakes and cream puffs?
That said, I do hope the changes brings some positives. We had a pretty large party last time we went there, and while some people loved what they got, others were not as impressed. I’m disappointed in the change in format. I personally like to be able to order and pay for only what I want. I haven’t ordered an appetizer the last two times I’ve been there, and based on the new menu, I probably wouldn’t again if I had the choice. Guess we’ll just have to decide whether it’s worth going.
Kelly G says
What a bummer! This was such a fun dinner for the kids (and delicious for the adults!) but at those prices, it’s pretty prohibitive. Will miss our annual dinner here.
Rachel says
Super disappointing. I was hoping to dine there for my 30th birthday in October. Thankfully I have some time to come up with a different plan.
DFB Sarah says
Lizzy, no word on that!
Stacey says
My family snagged a reservation there in February, but we were sadly underwhelmed. This may be an unpopular opinion, but unless these new dishes are an extreme improvement, this restaurant is not worth 2 credits. I’m glad we experienced it, but it’s a one off for us.
Brad Comerford says
I have a dinner reservation in hand for June. When I booked it showed as 1 Disney dining plan credit required. Is the move to requiring 2 credits effective immediately – or is that only starting on July 27th?
DFB Sarah says
Brad, Be Our Guest should remain a one-credit dinner until the actual start date of the enhanced dinner (as you said, July 27). If we hear differently, we’ll be sure to share it on DFB.
PegP says
If I’m paying $65 for a meal, then The Grey Stuff better not be the dessert! I can make that at home in ten minutes for about $5 (for the entire family). All it is is Cool Whip, Oreo cookies, vanilla pudding mix, a little bit of chocolate pudding mix, and some milk. Instant pudding mixed with some cookies is NOT a high-end dessert to end a $65 meal with!
DFB Sarah says
Peg P., the Grey Stuff is planned for one component of the dessert trio. We shared the info in this post!
Chris says
Lunch it is, breakfast is too expensive for what it is and the choices for dinner are terrible.
