If you’re going to be enjoying a Walt Disney World vacation this spring, you’ll definitely want to schedule some time to explore Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival. Everyone from expert gardeners to those of us without green thumbs can appreciate the astounding botanical displays, but beyond the flowers and plants, there are so many other reasons to check out the Festival.
With all the food booths (called Outdoor Kitchens at Flower and Garden) and numerous demonstrations, tours, and displays, Flower and Garden is a must-do. But like the larger Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, the Flower and Garden Festival can be a lot to take in. So your pals at the DFB have assembled some top tips to help you navigate this most beautiful of special events!
Click here to follow along with DFB as we uncover all the details about Food Booths and Menus for the 2020 Festival!!
Now to our TOP TIPS!
1. Know before you go!
With so many food booths at the Flower and Garden Festival (we’ve seen up to 15 before!), you’ll need a gargantuan stomach or a solid plan of attack in order to enjoy it all. And since we can’t help you with the stomach, we’ll tackle the plan instead. 😉 When Flower and Garden begins on March 4, we’ll let you know what to eat and what to skip in our Best of the Fest! post (this one’s from 2019!).
And before the Festival even begins, we’ll give you a heads up about some of our returning favorites too. And, of course, we’ll have food booth menus and food photos to help you plan your attack!
2. Move to the beat!
Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival features terrific live music in its Garden Rocks Concert Series! Acts like Starship, the Plain White T’s, and Air Supply will be lighting up the stage this year so guests can enjoy the tunes in a few different ways. First, you can simply hang out near the American Gardens Theater stage and listen to the performances from afar.
Standby seating is also available for each day’s three performances, but you’ll want to line up early and be flexible about where you might score a seat. (Note that while some of the seating is undercover, most is not.)
The final option for enjoying the Garden Rocks Concert Series is to pair it with a dining package — breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Select Epcot restaurants are offering guaranteed seating with the purchase of the dining package. You’ll want to check out our 2020 full restaurant list with pricing and learn how to make reservations here. Then all you’ll have to do is sit back and enjoy the show!
3. Check out the Special Events!
Aside from noshing on some creative eats and bopping to some energetic beats, you’ll also want to check out some of the Festival’s Special Events!
Tours are a fun way to delve into the Flower and Garden world a little more deeply and include such fun options as the Royal Tea Garden Tour (learn more about the plants and blooms that go into tea and enjoy a scone and cup of tea!), the Gardens of the World Tour (a three-hour walking tour led by a Disney horticulturist), and Behind the Seeds (a popular tour of the Land Pavilion’s projects that’s available year-round).
In addition to tours, visitors to the Flower and Garden Festival in 2019 also enjoyed two family-friendly scavenger hunts! We expect more family fun in 2020!
4. Take your time!
Even with all the planning that can go into a visit to Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival, our best advice is to take your time exploring the many, many floral and botanical displays. The topiaries alone could fill your day — and they’re worth a close look because they’re awesome from every angle!
And the blankets of flowers that undulate throughout the park? Please. They’re stunning. You have to stop to admire them.
So even if you forgo a tour or skip the eats (shock horror!), the Flower and Garden Festival is still a magical experience.
