World of Disney
at Disney Springs, the world’s largest Disney store, has been undergoing a major refurbishment and reimagining for the last ten months. The Grand Reopening is on Saturday, October 27, but Disney Food Blog got a sneak peak today! Come along with us to see what’s new and what you can expect to see over the next few weeks.
World of Disney‘s new design offers a more modern look and a spacious, open floor plan. With 50,000 square feet of cuteness, you might just find a few things you can’t live without.
Many NEW sections of the store are open to the public today. There’s a whole new Mickey Mouse Club collection, too (more on that soon!):
And the rest of the store opens on Saturday, October 27.

Super great new t-shirts have shown up at the new World of Disney! We’re loving the Insert Snacks Here design…though we’ve never really needed a map to figure that out.
The castle blueprint is super fun. And do you know anyone who needs the “I tried to be happy, but I got bored.” shirt? ;-D

Mickey and Minnie Ears and Hats at World of Disney in Disney Springs
So this crazy cute, brand new ear headband is part of the new Mickey Mouse Club collection at World of Disney! But there are plenty of other ears where that came from… .
See what I mean?
Not an ear person? That’s alright — they’ve got you covered, too. Literally. WOD’s hat game is strong.
And this new rainbow-y clutch just fit right in with the ears…so we had to show you!

While I like the details that you showed, if I’m to be honest, I miss all of the dimensional characters that they had around and the ones hanging from the ceilings. Yeah, those snack and treat tees are perfect for you, AJ, and your staff!
LINDA DIGIANNANTONIO says
They have managed to take the magic of Disney out of the store. Not a fan at all.
Patricia C says
Love those t-shirts and the wall of ears!
Linda Fiegel says
Now it looks like any other “big box” store. Going with a “modern” look is not necessarily better.
Rune says
I’m with Essie in this, they’ve sucked all the fun elements out of what used to make this store so different. Maybe it still feels fun to walk around, I’ll have to wait and see but from here it just looks like ay big run of the mill outlet store that sells Disney merch. More streamline so now doubt customer footfall is speeded up / increased but just kind of sterile. Those curly neon lights aren’t making me feel cuddly at all. =S
And yeah, it was always a bit of a faff flipping along the rails and finding the size of t-shirt you wanted wasn’t there and I can see you have a more immediate visial clue to whether your size is in stock but again, it just looks like the displays you get everywhere from Kohls to Walmart and beyond and while there’s nothing wrong with that – and I’m trying not to be too cynical here – but unless some poor soul CM is stationed here all day refolding and sorting the stuff that people have pulled out, screwed up and put back down in the wrong hole, it’s going to be more frustrating than the old system.
Joline says
We didn’t even bother visiting the store on our last visit. This new design may be hip and “Fixer Upper/Industrial Chic” but that’s not what I’m looking for at Disney. It reminds me of the Chocolate World store in Hershey Park. No magic at all. I did like some of the snack merch though.
Hannah says
Kind of fits in with the rest of Disney Springs now. Not the same Disney feel.
Susan Tessier says
I loved going in that store because of all the characters everywhere and just “over the top-ness” of it all. You knew you were at Disney World. This looks like it could be anywhere now. I loved to wander around looking at stuff in all the rooms, but now it seems all the heart that made it special is gone. Kinda breaks my heart actually!
Joy says
I like the Holiday Ears. Hope they are available in the Parks. I won’t be going to Disney Springs this trip. This looks like an outlet mall. No Magic.
ERINLSMITH says
I REALLY LIKE THE WAY PUT THE DISPLAY OF DIFFERENT DISNEY STUFF YOU CAN BUY AND HOW EVERY THING IN THE STORE IS UNIQUE IN ITS OWN WAY AND ALSO VERY SPECIAL TO THE PEOPLE BUYING THE STUFF IN THE STOREALSOASWEL.
Cindy says
I like the open space and the new merchandise! Bring back some character statues and it will be perfect!
Bill Laude says
I’m looking forward to seeing it in person in a few weeks. That will be my deciding factor. My wife can then tell me if I like the ‘new’ store.
Debi J Boyd says
I Love Disney! Im a huge huge fan, however the old World of Disney was by far the most magical shopping experience for me.I loved everything about it, all the characters above and the detail and immagination that was put into the entire store. Now it is just a nice store that sells Disney merchandise. Sorry Disney this was not a possitive change.
DFB Sarah says
Bill: Thanks for the chuckle. 🙂
Vicky Torres says
I have been a Disney fan since the parks open, but I miss the old World of Disney as it was a unique shopping experience. This new design is cold and looks just like a simple, regular store selling Disney products. Unfortunately the Disney magic is gone not only in this store but in a lot of places in the park. I just spent 5 days this last weekend in “renovated” rooms at Pop Century and All Star Movies and the style is the same as the store, efficient, simple, too modern, industrial looking but missing the essence of Disney.
Sorry Disney, this style does not work for me.
Lisa N says
Honestly, I don’t like it. It has no Disney Magic to it. To me it looks like the inside of a restaurant. I loved going into the old World of Disney store. Everywhere you looked you saw some magic! Like another commenter said this could be a Kohl’s or just some warehouse store that just happened to sell Disney merchandise. It looks too sterile and boring. That said some of the holiday merchandise itself looks very cute.
Jane says
Looks like the Gap. Not a fan at all. We used to go spend hundreds on our children there, and it was so much fun. Disney actually managed to make a store full of disney merch boring for kids to shop in. Who in the world are they trying to cater to? Certainly not people would have bought things there.
Tanya says
Not a fan at all, it looks like a normal store. Another Disney fail as of late. We are missing the days of Michael Eisner. To be honest, Disneyland has the cool stuff now!
Connie says
Not even as cute as the Disney stores at a regular mall now. Where’s the fun disney decor? I don’t even want to fo back. Really bad decision they made. Its no fun for kids either.
Michelle says
I know it’s been a while but I’m surprised there wasn’t more backlash. It looks like someone noted here they liked ot, but I’ve never spoken to someone that doesn’t prefer the previous version. I know I frequent it less and seem to personally spend less on merchandise. I was really hoping they’d get a bigger backlash so we don’t see more of this trend.
