Time to take a look at the new speciality cupcake at the Boardwalk Bakery in Disney World!
OK, OK — I realize that it basically looks like you’ll need a whole pallet of toothpaste to get the purple stain off your teeth. Agreed. But when we saw this sweet treat in the bakery case at the Boardwalk Bakery we knew we had to try it. It’s our job after all, right? So here’s what happened… .
We were told that the cupcake was banana flavored when we first got it. OK, cool. I like a good banana cupcake. But that crazy purple frosting was so…off-putting. This is either a purple potion cupcake or a Briar Rose Gold cupcake…or both? We have no idea. ;-D Maybe it’s a twofer!
The cupcake is topped with metallic candied crisps, edible glitter, that crazy blue and purple buttercream and a pink and purple white chocolate bow. My middle-school self is screaming.
So we cut into it to reveal the suggested banana, and…SURPRISE!
The inside is filled with lemon curd and blueberries! Um…that’s my favorite combo ever! (Rivaled only by chocolate and peanut butter… .) And it WAS truly delicious.
The creamy lemon curd was the right mix of sweet and tart, and the blueberries added an unexpected burst of sweetness. I liked the different textures that the two fillings offered together — it really raised this cupcake to a higher level than what we were expecting for sure.
We would give this cupcake three thumbs up if we could (minus the cost of the toothpaste pallet). So, if you find yourself strolling along the Boardwalk or eating at Trattoria al Forno, make sure to stop by the Boardwalk Bakery to try this limited time specialty cupcake. The cupcake is $5.99 and can be used as a Disney Dining Plan snack credit!

That looks sooo awesome, minus the top 1/3! How about just making the base cupcake with the blueberry and lemon curd, and a small frosting on top made of either blueberry or lemon or both? I know so many people, incl myself, who don’t like all the thick layer of icing and toppings, who would buy more if they didn’t have to take a knife to the top and feel like they are cutting away $2 worth of the cupcake just to get to the part they like. I really think they would sell a ton more, minus all the toppings, at maybe a $1.50 less, than what they do now. Think carrot cake cookie minimalism, great cookie cake with a decent, albeit not overload, of icing inside. Ever get that one bagel place that puts 2 inches of cream cheese in between that you end up taking a knife to and removing 2/3 of?

That is a very BuzzFeed-esque click baity title you got there.

Is the cake banana? Seems weird to have banana cake with lemon blueberry filling.
Karen says
Where is the banana?
DFB Sarah says
For those asking “Where’s the banana?”, we didn’t find any. Evidently the cast member who told us it was banana was mistaken (or it’s so subtle we couldn’t taste it).

Love that it was delicious but that CM could have caused someone real issues – what if the person was allergic to blueberries?? Yikes!

I think it looks really good and I would be one to try it minus the icing and stuff. Scrape it off and try it tho. Lemon -Blueberry is a fave one of mine for flavors.
