Do you — or does a member of your Disney World traveling party — follow a vegetarian or plant-based diet? If so, then you’ll definitely want to know about a new resource in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
Magic Kingdom dining locations are now carrying the “Disney Plant-Based Cuisine” guide to assist guests on the search for vegetarian and plant-based menu items!
The guide is noted as being published for Spring 2019, with a note encouraging guests to “spring into our delicious assortment of meatless menu items!” So we expect to see new editions accordingly.
Note the bottom left corner of the picture above, which has a key for designating items that do not contain animal meat, dairy, eggs, or honey.
Offerings in the tri-fold pamphlet are divvied up by Land.

Something to note: a DFB Reader informed that Twinkies are not vegetarian. However, you’ll notice that the Fried Twinkie is listed as a vegetarian option at Friar’s Nook. So, just a reminder that it’s always best to double check things to be sure.
Though we’ve noticed the changing dining landscape with offerings such as the Vegan Brat at Friar’s Nook and the Falls Family Falafel at the Jungle Skipper Canteen as they’ve hit the scene, this effort to organize information so it is easily accessible to interested guests will likely be a very welcome resource for many!
We spotted the guide out in the open at the map kiosk in Liberty Square, but it is also available at dining locations around the park. For instance, we received one by request at Columbia Harbour House.
So, if you don’t spot one on your own, simply ask a Food & Beverage or Guest Relations Cast Member!
Note: in speaking with Cast Members, they only knew the guide to be currently available in Magic Kingdom. But we’ll be on the lookout for the plant-based guide in other parks and will keep you posted!

Jolene Correll says
This is fantastic! I am not vegetarian but do try eat healthy at WDW. What a wonderful resource.
Beth says
As a lifelong vegetarian, this is fantastic! I can’t wait to visit in three weeks and try some of these options!
Gigi says
Not sure how Fried Twinkies made the list since Twinkies contain lard.
Katy says
This is so great! I can’t wait until there’s even more with that little leaf icon!
Jackie says
Yes!!! So happy to see this. Had no idea there was veg meatloaf at Liberty Tree Tavern. Guess I can have a real meal there again! 🙂

This is great news. Up to now, deciding where to eat has been a matter of going from lace to place looking for what vegetarian options might be available. Now we can plan our day with much more certainty. I notice there are also more plant-based options appearing. Casey’s vegan dog, the Liberty Tree Meatloaf, Tony’s gnocchi and the Plaza bangers and mash are super additions to the choices available. Pecos Bill’s menu is full of excellent options, too. Props to Disney for creating a top-rate service for those of us who don’t eat meat and thanks to the DFB for letting us know about it.

FANTASTIC! – would also love a gluten free!
Andi says
Taste testing some of the entrees on this list would make a great video! Cauliflower tacos sound kind of amazing!
Julie says
Fantastic – hope Disney do them for the other parks and Disney Springs as well. Being a Vegetarian – I used to create my own ‘crib sheets’ before each trip about which foods/snacks were veggie, by going to the All Ears website and looking at their Menu’s – very time consuming, so I’m really pleased Disney have decided to do this. Well done!
Patricia says
We were told that the French Onion soup at Be Our Guest was vegetarian as well last time we asked.
Kristin says
This is great! Do the other parks have this resource?
DFB Sarah says
Kristin, not yet! We’ll post if we see them!
Jill Elias says
This is a fantastic idea. I hope they continually update it and create a guide for each area of Disney World! This will make my vacations with my husband so much easier!
Marcie says
What a relief! This has been a long time coming. Takes away the strain of checking the menu at several places to see if there’s something I can eat since I’m the only vegetarian in my party everytime we go to Disney. Many thanks to Disney and DFB for putting this info out there!!
Kayla K says
Do you know if they have these for actually allergies that could potentially send someone to the hospital, like nuts ? Or is this just for vegetarians and vegans?
DFB Sarah says
Kayla, the only guide they have is for Plant-Based diets. But every quick service location or snack cart or kiosk has an allergen binder to help guests determine what’s safe for them. Table service locations will typically bring out a chef to discuss the safe options.

I think that COVID-19 derailed this plant based menu stuff. We just came from a day at Animal Kingom and had reasonable but limited choices at Yak & Yeti.
But The Brown Derby really let down our vegetarian family member. All The Brown Derby’s menu offered on Monday, 22 February 2021 that was billed as vegetarian was a Salisbury Steak made with impossible brand.
The noodle bowl/pho wasn’t available.
Be prepared for COVID-19 wreaking havoc on menu choices as well as the rest of life.
DFB Sarah says
Thanks for sharing this experience, Elizabeth.
