Earlier this week, we brought you along to see the temporary bar set up in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa as Mizner’s Lounge was closed to begin a lengthy refurbishment. And now, we know what is coming when the space reopens in the fall… because Disney has announced that a lounge inspired by “Beauty and the Beast” is on its way to the Grand Floridian!
Disney shares that “the enchanting lounge will celebrate the magic and romance of the popular Disney live-action movie.”
The new lounge will feature four unique spaces inspired by the film. (Note that the neighboring Commander Porter’s shop was also closed along with Mizner’s to make way for this upcoming experience.) Disney states that the signature bar “will glow from the light of a magnificent gold chandelier that takes its inspiration from Belle’s flowing ball gown,” which will provide nods to the Enchanted Rose.
A former library will showcase “classical baroque designs and French furnishings inspired by Belle, with hints of the Beast’s friends.” The whimsical garden room will be inspired by the enchanted forest around Beast’s Castle. There will even be an outdoor patio which will “evoke the romance of Beast’s garden terrace.”
We are itching to know what you all think of this news, so please chime in!

We are DVC members at the Grand and we think it’s a good idea to reimagine these spaces. Some are worried this redo will bring too much traffic to the area but whenever we pass by the lounges at the yacht club they don’t appear to be overrun with people.

Hmmm, its on the 2nd floor so outdoor patio means its gonna be a 2 story lounge as I assume they wouldn’t be defacing the building’s exterior by making the patio on 2nd level? Love the lounge, hard to lose it but sometimes a new fav is created upon re-imagined spots. Can’t wait to see a more French influenced small plates menu and some unique drinks.

😮 so excited!!
As a beauty and the beast fan, I’m all for it. I might splurge and stay at GF for my March 2020 trip

I’m in love with this idea!! Will this lounge be open to all guests or is this a private lounge for club level, DVC members, and/or pass holders? And do we know when this will be open?
Alma says
I love this idea! My favorite Disney movie ❤️

That whole area up there needs a refresh and imagination. We are dvc members at the grand and I’m glad they are doing this.

Sara, Mizner’s was accessible to anyone, and we expect that to continue. No specific opening date — just sometime in the fall. We’ll keep checking on it!

All I have to say is “Please take my money now!” As an avid B&TB fan, I am so glad they are showing more love to this film in new experiences for the guests!

I’d be excited to see!

I’m going to play devil’s advocate here maybe, but I’m not getting the connection between B&B and the GF.
Why wasn’t this a design to place, perhaps, in the new Rivera Resort…which I thought was themed (by name alone) to the French Rivera and all things. From Disney’s website specifically saying “Disney’s Rivera Resort will celebrate the grandeur of Europe – which has long inspired some of the greatest Disney stories with its castles and fairy-tale villages.”
Wouldn’t it be a better fit there? Rather than Victorian-themed GF with its nods to Mary Poppins, for one?
Ruth says
I agree with Amy! Beauty & the Beast does not really go with the Victorian theming of the Grand Floridian. I’m honestly disappointed.

we Loved Mizners…a nice, quiet adult lounge with an amazing view and great vibe, great drinks & small plates to end a busy day at the parks or pre dinner happy hour…we told so many friends about it!! kind of a hidden gem at the GF….hearing of the expansion was so needed. It was very hard at times to get a table and we saw so many guests like ourselves walk away disappointed they could not get a table or spot at the bar to relax at such a beautiful spot in the GF. Now hearing it is going to be a Beauty & the Beast theme really throws the whole concept off. Expansion of what Mizners was would be perfect so more people could enjoy the Mizners vibe it was…kind of disappointed. Don’t know how Beauty & the Beast comes into play with the original Mizners..I love Beauty & the Beast so I will keep an open mind and I know the Imagineers will make it a wonderful place, but will truly miss the original Mizners the way it was.

Not happy. Mizner’s was a nice place you could go for a relatively quiet moment or to have a relaxing drink with friends. I understand updating but putting something that has no connection to the Victorian themeing of the GF makes no sense. Would make more sense to put it in the Rivera that is supposed to be influenced by Walt’s love of Europe. Just cannot make a connection between B & B and the GF. Mary Poppins yes, B & B, no. Just my 2 cents.

Breaks my heart since I am a Mizner?. But I think what is replacing the lounge will be amazing.

Mizner’s was one of my favorite places, and I’m not excited for yet another B&TB-themed space (especially one that is so out-of-place at this resort!) There are so few really adult-feeling spaces and this was one of the last. Having the ability to listen to the band, enjoy the intimate space and have a beautiful desert or small nibble, or even sit with that stunning view of the Lagoon and enjoy a cigar from the bar while still being served was a luxury that won’t be afforded moving forward. I fear that the new theming will end up with parents bringing small children to a lounge “to see!”, which will completely change the entire feeling of what one goes to a lounge to experience.

Although I only went their to relax after work, have a whiskey and a cigar, I discovered it was also a great place to meet other singles for adult fun. Sounds like Disney is betting there is more money to be had with a less adult area as there will undoubtedly be more families with children going there after the remodel. I’ll give it a few tries when it re-opens, but sadly I suspect my evenings at Mizner’s are soon coming to an end.
Suzzanne says
I hope this will still be first come first serve basis. I will b very upset if you will need a reservation.
Lisa says
B&B is a French story and the Grand Floridian Cafe is more Victorian English so I believe that anything beauty and the bee probably should’ve gone to the wilderness Lodge or to the boardwalk closer to France over Epcot
