If you’re booked to stay at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels from May 31st to June 23rd, then I’m sure you are already well aware that you are guaranteed a required, no-cost reservation to see Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in its opening weeks.
But you’ll be aware of more than that soon, if you check your email. Because guests who have booked a room at a Disneyland Resort hotel during those dates should be receiving emails starting today with information regarding their reservation time to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge!
Finer details include statements that guests will be required to leave Galaxy’s Edge at the end of their reservation time period, and — because the email also includes a pre-assigned time — that modifications to reservations are subject to availability.
And, of course, a reservation time is also included! Currently reservation times are for four hours per slot.
The reservation also states that details on exactly how to redeem the reservation will be sent out the day before check-in.
Note that, while rooms during the opening dates are completely sold out for the three Disneyland hotels, there are still rooms available within the opening weeks for the time span which will require a reservation to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: May 31 through June 23, 2019.
So, Disneyland Resort hotel guests, be sure to check your email as soon as you can! And May the Force Be With You!

Do you have a Disneyland Resort hotel reservation for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge? Please let us know with a comment!
Francis Schell says
There appears to be a problem in Disneyland’s Reservation system for Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. I have reservations for Grand Californian checking in 5/30 to 6/2. My reservation for Galaxy’s Edge is supposedly 5/30 and it shows that my reservation is 5/29 to 6/1. The phone number is continuously busy so I assume this error went out to a lot of people. It would be nice to go in a day early but I think it is a glitch.
Debbie Lee says
Will they be doing anything for DVC Members or Annual Passholders ?
Arlene says
Please, please, please! I hope Disney World will do the same type of reservation system as Disneyland is doing! It’s a larger park with tons of people and I can’t see them allowing everyone into Galaxy ‘s Edge at the same time and then making them stand on the line for the millennium falcon ride!?? That line would go all the way back into the park, out of the park, and back to the bus stop! Yikes!! So I really hope that when Galaxy’s Edge opens in Disney World, that they will do the same thing and have reserved time slots. We will be in Disney World this September and while we did not plan to be there for the opening (because it was supposed to open later in the fall ) we would still like to see Galaxy’s Edge while we are there. Any word yet on if the reservation system will be the same for Disney World ? I hope so! : )
DFB Sarah says
Debbie, nothing is announced yet, but we’re watching and will report if they are!
Bre says
We are hoping the same Arlene. Booked a trip to avoid the opening and now are right in the thick of things. Hoping they do reservations especially now that Mickey and Minnies Runaway Railway will not be open to help absorb the crowds. If they don’t it will be a madhouse full of very upset guests. Disney relies on their loyal guests coming back year after year. We go back and forth almost everyday on just cancelling and maybe going another year. Difficult because we have a countdown to Disney block set our kids love changing the days for and will be heartbroken if we cancel but the crowds definitely have us very worried especially with NO word from Disney on how they will manage the crowds. Tempted by the new summer offer but not enough to change reservations for when its crazy hot and the deal isn’t that great. If our trip is bad though we may not ever go back. Already not a fan of Disney corporate so if things go badly that will be it for us.
Arlene says
Bre- I know what you mean! But my plan is to make our fast passes as soon as our Fast Pass booking window opens! Also we are making dining reservations NOW. That way we can be out of the crowds and sitting at a table in a cool restaurant having a nice meal! I think it’s doable. But if Disney does not give Reservations for Galaxy’s edge – then I will just avoid Hollywood Studios as much as possible. However, I realize when have small children they are most likely looking forward to going to Toy Story world. I think Toy Story world should be OK? Even though it’s close to Galaxy ‘s Edge. I hope Disney wises up and starts letting us know what the plan is! People are really concerned about the crowds. But I think if the reservation system works in Disneyland, they will also implemented it in Disney World. I think Disneyland will be the test run for Disney World. It will give them a chance to work out all the glitches before they pass the system on to Disney World which is a bigger park. I hope you guys don’t have to cancel your trip! I know how excited your family must be and how much they are looking forward to it. I still think you will have a great time, there still are lots of other things to do. And if the gondolas are up and running by that time there will be another means of transportation. I hope you and your family have a great time in Disney World! : )
Bre says
Thanks Arlene 🙂 We will probably keep our reservations. We are all very excited. Just also very nervous. Disney needs to hurry and release information.
Bre says
My husband and I were both up at 5:30am and followed WDW Prep Schools strategy for snagging hard to get dining reservations and we got all of the ones we wanted 🙂 Going to do the same for fast passes. We are already planning to do 2 non park days and going to focus on getting to rope drop, midday break, and then dinner at a table service restaurant and back for more park in the evening. I definitely can’t handle being out walking around during the middle of the day. Too hot and humid! I think I’m struggling because this trip will just be different than the one I had planned out because the crowds will be way worse but I’m trying to focus on what I can control (Reservations, fast passes, rope drop, etc…Good luck to all of us lol
Bre says
I seriously watch DFB on You Tube everyday while doing dishes, laundry, sweeping, etc… Thank you AJ and the DFB team 🙂
Arlene says
I second that! When making plans to go to Disney, DFB is my number one “go to” resource that I depend on for current and updated Disney information. Thanks you guys! You do a fantastic job! The information you share with us is invaluable, and I love all of the DFB YouTube videos too AJ! So informative! Please keep up the great work! We depend on you! 🙂
