If you updated your Play Disney Parks app overnight, you may have noticed a BRAND NEW preview of the app’s integration with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge AND updated park maps that include Galaxy’s Edge!
When you open the app, you’ll now have access to a Preview Video for the Star Wars Datapad. You’ll find it via an icon on the park maps! Recall that Galaxy’s Edge will trigger your Play Disney Parks app to transform into a theme-appropriate Datapad that will interact with elements in Black Spire Outpost.
The Preview urges you to “Live Your Star Wars Adventure”! Don’t mind if we do!
Opening dates for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World are also clearly noted in the Preview.
While you’re living your Star Wars Adventure, you can “Explore Black Spire Outpost”!
The Preview video also highlights some of the integrations coming May 31 to Disneyland and August 29 to Disney World, including hacking into droids, scanning cargo, tuning into transmissions, and more!
Users also get a sneak peek into what those features will look like. “Hack Into droids”:
“Scan Encrypted Cargo”:
“Discover Hidden Items”:
“Tune into secret transmissions”:
“Translate Galactic Languages”:
And if that Preview wasn’t exciting enough, park-specific maps on the Play Disney Parks app now include Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! Take a look at the first glimpse we’re getting of the new lands’ layouts!
Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge appears left of center in Disneyland Park, with Millennium Falcon commanding space at the back of the land. (Notice that white and blue icon? That’s where you’ll find the Preview Video!)
Rise of the Resistance appears all the way to the left, just north of Splash Mountain and Winnie the Pooh. Remember that Rise of the Resistance will open in a second phase of Galaxy’s Edge (date still unannounced).
Other notable landmarks: Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo appears to be on the left side of the land, complete with a Delivery Shuttle on its roof.
Walt Disney World’s Black Spire Outpost appears inverted in the app based on the layouts of the parks, but the lands appear to have a nearly identical layout when approached from their respective entrances. Rise of the Resistance appears on the right, adjacent to Muppets Courtyard/Grand Avenue.
Millennium Falcon holds court at the bottom of the map, with Docking Bay on the right.
While we don’t have confirmation of the locations of other landmarks in Galaxy’s Edge, we’re loving that the overall layout seems to fit the immersive nature of the Outpost. Of course, nothing will compare to wandering the streets of Black Spire Outpost ourselves — and it’s just over a month away! Happy app-ing, friends!
