Welcome to this week’s What’s New in Animal Kingdom!
We have a lot to tell you about, including the delicious Orange Blossom cocktail, some pretty fabulous headwear and special edition plush, and a new MagicBand featuring “all the colors of the wind”! Let’s get started!
What’s New in Animal Kingdom’s Discovery Island
Kicking off our trek in Discovery Island, we spotted the Tiger Tail Chocolate Twist at Isle of Java!
This bright orange treat is very similar to Magic Kingdom’s famous Cheshire Cat Tail. It’s buttery, flaky and chocolatey – all great things in our book! You can grab it for $4.99 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit.

At Creature Comforts, their Father’s Day Cupcakes were still available when we were there. These cupcakes are Finding Nemo-themed and super cute!
We aren’t sure how long these will be available, but we did see them at Creature Comforts and Restaurantosaurus.
What’s New in Animal Kingdom’s Africa
Moving on to Africa, the Harambe Market construction walls are still up, and we can start to see the beginning of a new structure. We previously noticed the Harambe Market construction last month and we still aren’t sure what the purpose is. We’ll keep you posted as we find more news about this!
At Zuri’s Sweets Shop we spotted the Pecan Maple Fudge we recently found in Magic Kingdom’s Big Top Treats!
Nice to see some variety for the choices of this classic treat again!
The Dawa Bar has added a new specialty cocktail – the Orange Blossom!
The newest specialty Orange Blossom cocktail ($12.75) is a delicious mixture of Sauza tequila, Vanderhum, orange juice, and agave. It is a super refreshing drink to sip in the hot summer sun.
Check out our full review of the Orange Blossom Cocktail here!
In addition to introducing a new drink, the Dawa Bar has also changed its line location. Guests now line up on the outside of the seating area instead of directly in front of the bar.
What’s New in Animal Kingdom’s Asia
In Animal Kingdom’s Asia section, we were so sad to see there are still no monkeys at Monkey Island. The signs are still displayed, though, so hopefully they will return soon!
What’s New in Animal Kingdom’s Shops and Stores – New Merchandise!
You know what time it is – it’s time for new merchandise!
At Riverside Depot, we found some ADORABLE new character mugs! The made-for-morning mugs feature Mickey and Pluto, Minnie, Grumpy, and Stitch, and we can’t get enough.
I don’t know about you, but I definitely feel like Grumpy before I’ve had my morning coffee!
These mugs didn’t have price stickers, but the Cast Member we spoke with said they are $16.99 each.
Also at Riverside Depot, we noticed some out-of-this-world Guardians of the Galaxy notebooks! These are modeled after the Awesome Mix tape and you can purchase one for $17.99!
School may be out for the summer, but it’s never too early to stock up on supplies!
Riverside Depot had a lot of great merch when we were there, including these Disney hats!
They are $27.99 apiece and feature Hei Hei, Orange Bird, and the Queen of Hearts! We like them all, but we particularly love the adorable Orange Bird hat!
We ALSO found super cute Themed Headbands ($14.99) at Riverside Depot!
These headbands are inspired by Mickey, Minnie, it’s a small world, and Haunted Mansion, and I’m pretty sure I need one of these ASAP.
At Mombasa, Island Mercantile, AND Discovery Trading Company, we found the fun and colorful Special Edition Nala and Simba Plushes ($19.99).
For each plush sold, Disney will donate $5.00 to the Wildlife Conservation Network in support of the Lion Recovery Fund (and its local partners).

At the Dinosaur attraction merchandise shop, we stumbled upon this Mickey Mouse Club iPhone Case ($29.99)! We absolutely love the vintage look of this case. Don’t you, Mouseketeer?
Also in the Dinosaur merchandise shop, we spotted a new Pocahontas Magic Band ($24.99)! The swirling leaves remind us of the iconic song, “Colors of the Wind”.
Flit and Meeko are giving us cuteness OVERLOAD! It may be time to buy a new MagicBand…
At Discovery Trading Company, we found this Lion King Alex and Ani bracelet ($44.99). It features Simba as a cub and strikes a perfect balance between classic and creative.
Also at Discovery Trading Company, we noticed this totally rad Mickey Bubble Baton ($28.17)! It recently made its debut in Disneyland, too.
