If you have ridden in a monorail when visiting Walt Disney World lately you may have noticed that they look a bit…well…outdated.
That’s why we were SO excited when we spotted the silver monorail and its all-new upgraded look.
Disney has been taking steps to update the existing fleet to make for better travel accommodation for guests. And the silver monorail is the first to emerge with these new updates. So, let’s take a peek inside together!
First, the monorail received a spiffed up wrap on the outside making it look much more sleek and modern.
The interior also received an updated look including BRAND NEW SEATS!!! These are a gray color instead of the classic blue we’re used to seeing inside the monorails! And new seats means new cushions, so that’s a total win in our books!
We were also really jazzed to see that the walls on the inside of the monorail had a new look, too. Since this is the silver monorail, the wall has a fun silver print that reads “monorail silver.”
We’re excited to see what the rest of the updates will look like! Do you suspect that the yellow monorail will have yellow seats? Or do you think that Disney will stick to this more neutral color pallet? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

What’s the tentative date (year) for the new monorails?
Dave says
Love the upgraded neutral color gray color as it modernizes that 70’s blue look. Little by little!
Missy says
I hope they aren’t all gray inside. It’s very drab and gloomy. I don’t understand why “modern” has to mean lifeless and sterile.
Ryan T. Collier MBA says
I wish they’d wrap them like the monorail at Disney land!!
Tom Welsh says
Please color code each monorail interior to the exterior. That would be better than a one-size-fits-all.
Diane L. says
It looks great! Hopefully everything updated wasn’t just cosmetic! As in the doors and all the other mechanical parts are in working order.
Ryan says
Not sure if this is good news. They need new monorails. The current version is well past its designed operating date. I guess a cosmetic upgrade is better than nothing but a long-term solution is still needed.
Laura says
any word on updated a/c?
DFB Sarah says
Laura, no word on this, but we’ll look into it.

I worry that Disney has lost their faith in the Monorails. And that makes me mad. I dont like the Skyliner. Dont care how nice it looks and the 90 % of the time the interior is an acceptable temperature. Never mind the rediculous increases of everything connected to it. I could go into a whole big diatribe about the Skyliner here but I will stop. But as far as Monorail Silver this is just a pretty new dress on an aging vehicle. It is just a face lift. Bottom line is the Monorails are far past their life span. Disney should have been planning these upgrades for years. Instead they let their conglomerate management take tons of money, and clearly neglected the Monorail System. My gut says that they will eventually remove the Monorail line from TTC to Epcot. And put in another stupid Skyliner system. Blagh blagh blagh. And it really bothers me that they call the Skyliner transportation of the future. News flash Disney, it aint new, it aint futuristic, and it will be down a lot because of weather. I am a diehard Monorail fan. I dont like what Disney Corporate has become. And with their rediculous pricing hikes and control over people and where they go, me and my son probably wont be able to afford to go back. – Monorails forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
