Woah, what a whirlwind of exciting news we’ve already shared thanks to the D23 Expo 2019.
We’ve learned about an all-new Moana attraction, the names of the Star Wars Hotel in Disney World and Marvel Land in Disneyland Resort. Disney also shared costumes and ride vehicles for the new TRON Lightcycle Run coming to Magic Kingdom — which you can check out here!
Now, hop on board as we explore the costumes and the ride vehicle for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway coming to Hollywood Studios in Spring 2020 and Disneyland in 2022.
We were able to get an even closer look at the costumes thanks to our DFB friend Carlye (@carlyewisel on Twitter).
The costumes are very bright and colorful. The green vest looks a lot like something a train conductor would wear, which makes sense since guests will be riding on a train through the attraction. Cast Members will wear black slacks and will even have the option to wear a hat if they’d like!
Speaking of trains, let’s go full steam ahead and check out the ride vehicle for this new attraction.
As you can see, guests will sit towards the front of a very cartoon-like train. The seating area reminds us of the ride vehicle from the Great Movie Ride with a train placed on the front.
We’re excited to be a part of a Disney cartoon as we experience the world of Mickey, Minnie, and the entire gang. You can read more about this attraction inspired by “the cadence and comedy” of the new Mickey and Minnie cartoon shorts here!

Upon seeing the photo of the train I immediately thought of Casey Jr. Do you have any photos of the engine’s face?
Madison says
Do you know if this ride will have a wheelchair ride vehicle?
DFB Sarah says
Madison, we haven’t heard specifics about accessibility, but we would expect some (or all, perhaps) vehicles to be accessible. We will update when more info is released.

I’m worried you won’t be able to see over the large train much like on slinky dogs head in the way. Can you find out more on this.
Ashley C. says
That looks like an extremely narrow gap to climb thru. Plus, it looks like all you’ll be able to see is the back of the train engine.
Eddie says
I think the point is for the back of the train to be a screen where you can see conductor goofy. It may also be a point to keep you looking out the sides during parts of the ride (a la Peter Pan), who knows it’s goofy driving perhaps the car comes unhooked at some point 😀
Ashley says
Any word if this ride will have a height requirement? Wondering if my 36”, 2 year old will be able to ride.
DFB Sarah says
Ashley, Disney says any height!
