We stopped by Oga’s Cantina this evening to give a few more drinks a try before wrapping up our Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Opening Day adventures!
While we were there, we started chatting with a few Cast Members to find that Oga’s Cantina has a huge, crazy, massively insane SECRET MENU ITEM!
Sooooo we, of course, had to try it!! I mean, as if the opening day of Food and Wine and a ton of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge coverage hasn’t provided us with enough snacks already?! (Good thing calories don’t count at Disney anyway, right??)
And here it is: Oga’s Cantina has a secret menu Charcuterie Board filled with some rather interesting things…
The board has four different types of meats. These include Bresola Air-Cured Beef, Roasted SPAM (you read that correctly), Roasted Mortadella, and Roasted Chorizo Sausage. There are also two different kinds of cheeses, which are Pulled String Cheese (yep…STRING. CHEESE.) and Burrata with black salt.
To top it all off, there are a few different types of veggies including burnt scallions, roasted radishes, picked caulalini, and roasted shishito peppers. And we received a heads up that one out of ten of these peppers is VERY spicy!
But, wait…we’re not done yet! Because it also comes with crispy pork rinds seasoned with Garam Masala (curry), and an olive oil torta-crispy flatbread seasoned with honey and olive oil. Oh, AND a black bean and tamarind spread.
And, ummm… we didn’t enjoy this thing. Like, at all.
Honestly, the SPAM and the string cheese were the best components. The chorizo was slightly burnt, which we actually enjoyed because it had heat and good flavor. The torta, though, felt like a weird choice because they’re sweet against something like the Burrata which was VERY salty (we usually like a sweet-salty combo, but this was just…weird). Plus, there were no utensils, so we were basically trying to cut the burrata with toothpicks.
Now, does Oga’s need more food items on the menu? Yes. Definitely. Batuu Bits and the Rodian Ration ain’t gonna cut it. But we just thought that this dish was trying waaaaay too hard! It costs $21, so folks all we have to say is GO TO BASELINE TAPHOUSE instead because their Charcuterie Board is the bomb.com.
We also needed a few sips to wash down this massive thing, so we still tried the Toniray Wine and the White Wampa Ale!
The Toniray Wine ($13.00) has a nice teal blue color and a refreshing citrus taste.
The White Wampa ($14.25), which seems to change colors depending on your lighting, has banana and citrus characteristics. Other than that, it just seemed like a standard wheat beer!
No matter what, though, we can always say this… we’re surprised every time we step inside Oga’s Cantina!! Check out our full review here!

Sorry, this does not look tasty at all! I agree with you. They tried too hard on this one.. Simple is best. I think people like to eat food that they can recognize! Crazy names are OK but the food has to be edible!

This is so cool! We still haven’t been able to dine at Oga’s (just peek inside). Hoping to be able to try some libations next weekend. Thanks for the tips!

Ack! That contents of that plate looks like they were dropped from space, just plain nasty, not happy in each other’s company, & not at all appetising.
Definitely trying too hard. Secret items are always fun but they’d have done better to serve SPAM on a stick or a couple of cute items instead. Wonder if this will stick around or quickly get tweaked or replaced?
Amanda says
Yes! The appearance was on point for theme, but we definitely regretted the purchase! Just told ourselves it was an adventure. Lol

What a sad attempt at a charcuterie board. As I was reading the list of components, I was just thinking they scraped together whatever cheap-ish stuff they could find, threw it all on some heat source to “roast” everything, then added a couple of beautiful ingredients like burrata to make it all look/sound high-end. I would have given it a chance anyway but thanks to your review I don’t have to. Thanks for your unbiased reviews that help us spend our Disney money on only delicious dishes!! 🙂

I like it. It is using new techniques you are seeing more an more in the culinary world. Charred scallions are fantastic. That black salt described as weird may have been Indian black salt which has a “weird” flavor but goes very well on dairy. Spam is always welcome. I agree with the plate up, it is a bar for interstellar traders not The Capital Grill. I think it looks fun, you have to make it not look like normal earth food and I think it did a great job.

It’s a bar. They serve bar snacks. But they call it a diner/restaurant so they can let kids into a bar. In Disneyland.
And the beer was terrible!
You’re better off buying as many of the “thermal detonator” drinks as you can before TSA bans them everywhere.
Besides, California Adventure Park has a wider selection of better food and beers. And to add insult to injury the revamped Guardians of the Galaxy ride is a more modern visualization and execution of what passes for future tech (plus a nice steampunk vibe) than what is now quaint Star Wars style. C’mon, even Star Trek ditched the TOS cathode ray tubes and jeweled panel lights.
Stark industries will be awesome!

I would need to try it to pass judgement.
Sounds kinda good to me!

Went to Oga’s in HS yesterday. We actually really liked it. My Aunt and I got the Battu bits and were suprised to find we really liked everything, especially the dried green beans. I had the Jabba Juice, which was outstanding. I’d go back again
