Sons and daughters of the Revolution, today we gather round the Liberty Tree with some very sad news.
Today will mark the final performances of “The Muppets Present…Great Moments in American History.”
While Disney has not made a formal announcement, today is the last day you’ll see showtimes for the adorable Muppet production online or in My Disney Experience.
We are sad to see this one go — we just adore the Muppets! I mean, how can you not laugh when Miss Piggy decides to play our first president as “Georgina Washington?!”
And of course, we love watching Sam Eagle and his disapproving looks as the rest of the gang fumbles the stories of the founding of the U.S.A..
The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History premiered almost exactly 3 years ago and entertained Guests several times a day with two different stories. The show flip-flopped between the “Ride of Paul Revere” and the “Signing of the Constitution.”
The last scheduled showtime for today is 5:15pm. We Salute you Sam Eagle — thanks for the laughs and the (questionable) lessons in history!
Luckily, not all Muppet hi-jinx are lost. You can still find Kermit and friends at Muppet Vision 3-D in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

So very sad…..not just the loss of the Muppets but the teaching of history in a fun and enjoyable environment. Hopefully we will see the respturn of this someday.
Alex says
We have loved the Muppets live as a family and have watched it at least once every trip since it began. This entertained everyone regardless of age and gave an excuse to grab a waffle dessert and relax. Disney for our family is about shared experiences and not just rides, we have Six Flags if that’s all we wanted.
Andrea says
I saw it a couple of weeks ago. I’m not American but thought it was great 🙂 But I’ll watch anything that has the Muppets in it.
Dray says
Thats so sad I loved the show I finally got to see some of it back in July it was great I hope they’ll make a new show for them to replace it like a muppets fairy tale story time it fantasy land
TJ says
Saw it last week. No idea it would be the last time.
Barb says
😱
Splash Scott says
Saw it. Dated. Needed to go. DW crowds make these entertainment ops impossible to enjoy. Old fashioned entertainment like this is rarely a hit. Cast has to beg people to watch. It’s done.
Montescarlo says
I love Disney, but I wish they would do more with the Muppets. These guys are legends but I don’t feel Disney gives them the respect they deserve. 🙁
Nicole says
I’m so sad. My six year old LOVES this show. We’re annual passholders and go a few times a month. I hope the bring it back!
Nicondra Lewis says
SplashScot I have to disagree. Last spring I’d walked over to the Harbor seafood spot with my two year while the rest of my family at was at Sleepy Hollow and had no clue about the show. As the music drummed up while we were passing we all stopped and were highly entertained. My family was like what took you so long. We’ve never made it a point to schedule things like this, but it’s always a joy to come across. I’d guess the reason its closing is more so the space gets too congested as it took a while for CM to clear the walkway post performance.
Ella Monroe says
This show was hilarious. I’m so sad to see it go!
Steve says
What is it Disney removing the simple enjoyable things like
this and more shows attraction in the near future from what I have been reading. My family still misses the Electrical Parade.

There’s a petition to bring this show back!

I totally stumbled on this one a couple of years ago. I had shopped a bit at the Christmas store nearby and desperately needed to sit and found a bit of wall around a planter. Next thing I know, there’s this great show going on! It’s the little things like that that I really loved about Disney
Pris says
Disappointed to hear it is gone. Really wanted to see it when we go next year. Wonder why Disney sudenly stopped it.
Cheryl A Landers says
Wait , what? We loved this, we watched it every year. My 4 year old granddaughter would not let us leave the area until she watched the entire show. It was great. Why is it gone?????????
Donna says
This was unexpectedly good. I love the history presented in this form. Mesmerizing to adults and children alike.
Caryn says
My husband and I are very sad about losing this Muppet Show as well as Burudika and the dance party in Animal Kingdom. We’re not happy about the Jammitors being cut back to five days either.
These shows help make Disney special. If it’s all about lands and thrill rides (Guardians of the Galaxy, Tron), it’s just another amusement park. With Illuminations replaced by the visually wonderful but emotionally blah Epcot forever, we’re happy our annual passes expire in the spring.
Thanks to all the performers. Sam Eagle, I’m sure we’ll continue sing “Great moments in history… but only the American parts” in your honor.
Jackie Blow says
A petition was started to bring this show back!
Jack says
It probably offended someone with neither a sense of humor nor an appreciation of history, which means most people under 30.
Barb says
Okay, I’m a lil heartbroken, coming in Feb and love the Muppets so much
bill says
The parks are getting crappy and generic and keep taking away and charging more and more for nothing. I hope the new President coming from Disneyland makes some changes. Chapek and his minions need to be fired.
Ashley C. says
I’m so disappointed I never got to see it. 😥 Our last trip was 7 years ago with no future plans. I love the Muppets & tHis seems to be one of the few good things Disney has done with them other than the 4D movie at Hollywood Studios.
Jack says
DEVASTATED. Favourite part of Magic Kingdom.
Mickey says
It’s a show that is entertaining. I would say it’s a good show. this is coming from someone who isn’t into history and I’m older than 30s. It’s more of a see once per trip show for me. I haven’t seen it since 2017 however. My family really liked this show and they liked the American Adventure show in Epcot. In my opinion, the problem with the show wasn’t actually the show; it was its location. You couldn’t get through the walkway if you were trying to go around the show. Cutting through the Christmas store didn’t help because people were everywhere. Change the location and give it an indoor theatre space, and it would have been better.
Karen says
We loved this show!! We always make sure to see it once every trip. It was a great opportunity to grab a snack and drink and take a break. I have teenagers (who are under 30!) and they love this show. We are so sad to see it go! We love the silly patriotic celebration. I don’t think it is dated but we are still mourning the loss of the electric parade☹️😢. These are the kind of things that make it Disney and not just a theme park.
Marianne says
Our trips to the Magic Kingdom are not the same without the electric light parade….all the things that make our visits magical like the parade and the muppets remain a great memory
