While the Disney Skyliner only opened September 29th, Disney World has already dealt with some technical difficulties.
Due to a collision, many guests were left stranded inside the gondolas for up to 3 hours (yikes). Buuut, it appears the issues regarding the Skyliner has been resolved ’cause they’re back open!
Disney World announced that the Skyliner would be closed until further notice, but we’re excited that the new transportation system has finally re-opened for guests’ use after being closed for a little over a week.
A few days ago, Disney released a statement after the incident, stating “We have a team diligently looking into the cause of the malfunction on the Epcot line of the Disney Skyliner. We have been in contact with the guests, many of whom were on the Skyliner for more than three hours until we were able to restart the system. We express our sincere apologies for the inconvenience and continue to work with each guest individually.”
Although we might not ever fully know went wrong that day and why the gondolas piled up, we do know what it’s like to actually be stuck inside the Skyliners for three hours, thanks to DFB followers!
We’re happy that Disney fixed any issues with the Skyliner Gondola System and that it’s finally BACK! Time to fly, you guys!

YAY! We arrived at EPCOT last night and I was so bummed to see that the Skyliner was not available. I planned our 3-day WDW itinerary around it! Our trip has been saved. 😊

I’m terrified now!! Lol

Glad to see the Skyliner back in operation. We are D-31 days out. Anxious to ride it.

Nope! Not for me. Still not a fan. I don’t believe Disney has worked out all the kinks and it’s only a matter of time until there’s another problem. I don’t look forward to being stuck up in the air for three hours in the middle of the day with no air-conditioning. I will stick with the buses!

There does not appear to be any official explanation as to why the system had a malfunction on the Disney World Park Blog site. Additionally, Disney stated that they have updated the communication with guests on the attraction. I suspect that Disney is still not in position to handle a mass evacuation should the need arise again.

Yayyyy!
I am so happy it is back!
My husband and I were at Pop Century from Oct 2nd til the 5th and the best time was riding the Skyliner to Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
We love it and can’t wait to ride it again.

My wife and I arrive in less than a week and we are both looking forward to riding the Skyliners. All new things can have an adjustment period that may include some delays etc. but we are looking at it as all part of the Disney Experience!
