Ready to go on an adventure with the Big Cheese, himself? It’s almost time!!
Can you believe it’s been over 2 years since the Great Movie Ride took its final bow? We’ve slowly seen more details come out about its replacement, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, including the attraction poster, ride vehicles, and even the opening date (!!!). Now, it’s time to take a FIRST LOOK inside this upcoming attraction.
We can’t wait for this ride to open on March 4th to get the full experience. We’ll keep you posted as we near the opening date of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
Spoiler alerts ahead! While we only stepped into the lobby and saw the new short today, if you’re looking to be totally surprised by this new attraction, you may want to proceed with caution.
We had the opportunity to see INSIDE the lobby, so we thought we’d share what we saw. Much like The Great Movie Ride, the queue goes into the Chinese Theater. On the walls, you will find digital posters of shorts that have “already premiered” in the theatre. You will also find some original art to help you realize that there’s history in this theatre!
While waiting, riders will have the opportunity to see the new Mickey short “Perfect Picnic.” This short also includes a new song, “Nothing Can Stop Us Now.”
In the short, Mickey and Minnie are heading out for a picnic in the park. Along the way they see their pal Goofy driving a train talking about how it’s the perfect day for a picnic. As they go over a set of bumpy railroad tracks on their way, their truck flies open, which sends both Pluto and a pie flying. This pie lands in the smokestack of Goofy’s train and causes a whole bunch of issues.
It causes the screen to explode, yes EXPLODE. It was totally insane! When this happens the screen magically transforms into a doorway and Goofy asks a Cast Member to bring guests through the screen to help out!
This is when riders will enter a new room and will board their ride vehicles — which you can see here!
While this is all we were able to see today, it has us really excited to see even MORE. We’re can’t wait to step into the screen with Mickey and Minnie on March 4th, can you? And don’t forget, this attraction is also slated to make its way to Disneyland in 2022!
