As anyone who’s ever made the pilgrimage to Walt Disney’s original theme park can tell you, getting from the airports (especially LAX!) to Disneyland can be a bit of a hassle.
You see, unlike Disney World’s Magical Express set-up, there isn’t a free Disney-owned and operated airport shuttle included when you book your Disneyland resort stay. There has been, however, the Disneyland Resort Express, a popular shuttle service provided by Coach USA. That is… until NOW!
And according to The Orange County Register, starting early next year the Disneyland Resort Express, will cease operating both of its airport shuttles servicing Disneyland-bound guests flying in from LAX and John Wayne. Meaning guests visiting the “Happiest Place on Earth” are going to have to find their own third party means of transportation if they wanna see Sleeping Beauty’s Castle!
Disneyland is a good 33 miles from LAX International Airport and 15 miles from John Wayne Airport, making the use of a shuttle bus, rental car or rideshare service a requirement when planning a visit to Disney’s California theme parks.
This is sure to make an already challenging situation even more difficult if you’re hoping to forgo the expenses of renting and parking a car at the Disneyland Resort or are traveling with small children requiring car seats.
The last day the Disneyland Resort Express airport shuttle bus service will be offered is January 7th, 2020. We’ll keep you informed as this story develops!
UPDATE!
Several of our readers have reached out to inform us how Disneyland Resort Express was handling their pre-booked reservations. According to the company, they have made arrangements with Karmel Shuttle (a third-party service) to honor all previously booked reservations at the same rate. If you have a pre-existing reservation but haven’t been contacted yet by Disneyland Resort Express, you should contact them further details!

But Disneyland Resort express was ran by green line and over the years became a terrible way to get to the parks. The last time we ride it was dirty and the bus was only 1/8 full. The year after we booked the accessible bus for our daughter who uses a chair. Our flight was delayed and they refused to send another bus. We were forced to get someone to come get us. From then on we have used limo.com or Uber and Lyft. Since you pay per person for the shuttle, it sometimes comes out pretty close.
We just got back this week and the only complaint about LAX is the new pickup location. We can’t find any information on shuttle accessibly. We paid a bit more to have curb pickup. It was worth it.

We have already booked a trip for February 2020 and preordered the Disney shuttle. We received an email from Disney. They arranged our transportation with Karmel for us at no additional charge. We were instructed to contact Karmel and they already had our reservations and information ready for us. All we had to do was give our flight information.

We LOVE using Uber /Lyft when visiting DL. $30 to Long Beach airport. $10 from hotel to being dropped off out front! So much easier than parking! Especially with a stroller!!

Would love to know of suggestions for alternates! Thank you.

We have used the Disneyland Express probably at least the last 3 or 4 times we’ve visited Disneyland, and LOVED it! My husband hates driving in CA traffic, so it was the perfect solution for us!! I am so sad. This decision may impact how often we visit Disneyland in the future! Disneyland needs to come up with a solution to this problem, sooooon!!
