The Disney food and beverage team strives to accommodate guests with special diets. While many restaurants around Walt Disney World are able to accommodate special diet requests without advance notice, including diabetes, there are some helpful tips that can make your visit easier and help you feel better prepared for dining during your trip.
Table Service restaurants are locations where guests may often make Advance Dining Reservations prior to dining, and the process of dining with a special diet can begin as soon as you make your reservation.
1. Make your Advance Dining Reservations and note your special diet on each reservation. If you call (407) WDW-DINE to make your reservations, request that the cast member note your special diet on your reservation. If you make your reservation online via the Walt Disney World website, you may designate “Other” on the Special Dietary Requests option which you can opt to fill out when you make your booking.
Please note that the Disney World website goes on to state that: “Many Walt Disney World restaurants can handle the following requests without prior notice: Vegetarian, Vegan, No Sugar Added, Low Sodium, Low Carbohydrates, Diabetes and Gastric Bypass or Lap Band.”
2. Email the Special Diets department — [email protected]; or call them at (407) 824-5967
3. Talk to the Chef or Restaurant Manager when you arrive the restaurant.
Guests may also request to speak with a Special Diets Trained Cast Member or Chef at Counter Service locations as well.
Helpful tips:
Bring a carb count guide book with you.
Pack 2-3 times the amount of supplies as needed, then pack them in two separate bags and put your name and cell phone number on everything.
Moderate and Deluxe resorts have small fridges in the hotel rooms. At a value resort, request a refrigerator and tell them that you need it for medical supplies. Medically necessary fridge rentals are complimentary.

Sugar-Free Treats
For guests that must restrict their sugar intake, you too can enjoy delectable treats in WDW!
Sugar Free items are clearly marked at buffets as well as on menus. Even the Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party clearly marks their sugar-free items so that guests can make informed choices. However, by noting your dietary restrictions when making your Advance Dining Reservation, you’ll give the restaurant time to create a fabulous dessert for you. For instance, the Yachtsman Steakhouse has been known to serve a delicious, sugar-free chocolate cake.
