While we’ve already temporarily lost the Disney World Railroad at the Magic Kingdom due to TRON: Lightcyle Run construction, now it appears we might be losing another beloved train!
It’s too soon to be totally sure what’s going on with Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, but we DID see some very concerning stuff today that’s got us like, “Hey Big Thunder, you alright?”
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad isn’t currently showing up on any refurbishment schedules for Disney World, and the dates for the Frontierland attraction aren’t grayed out like they normally appear online when a ride is expecting to be closed. But what’s got us worried is the times schedule. Similar to what we spotted earlier with Electric Umbrella’s closure being postponed, as you can see starting May 4th, 2020, there are “No Times Available” for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
And when you fast-forward a few weeks, you’ll see the times for the attraction become available again starting May 22nd, 2020.
That’s giving us the sneaking suspicion this train ride won’t be going anywhere between May 4th, 2020 to May 21st, 2020. We’ll let you know as soon as we have confirmation that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be closed during this time, but until then, better enjoy some prospecting just in case it does!

Going on my honeymoon from May 3rd to May 20th 🙁
What a bummer if this turns to be true.

Hi,
I so hope you are wrong. My husbabd and myself will be arriving on May 13th from England and this is one of our favourite rides. With so much construction and closures, I’m starting to feel sorry I persuaded him to take me.
Please be wrong.

I hope they never get rid of this ride. It is one of my favs!!!

How can this be seen? I thought we could only make Fastpasses 60 days out.??
DFB Sarah says
Brooke, that is true about FP, but if you want to check attraction times for dates further out, you can do that on the attraction’s official page, where there’s a calendar function.
