Once again, cast member Michael S. brings us another new cupcake on Disney property! This one’s for all of you springtime strawberry lovers… and Grand Marnier lovers… 😉
A Strawberry Shortcake cupcake has joined the other new cupcakes at Boardwalk Bakery!
Yummo! Here’s Michael’s review:
The Strawberry Shortcake Cupcake was probably one of the lightest, most refreshing cupcakes I have had at Disney World. It is the perfect dessert or snack for a hot summer day.
The frosting had the light, fluffy consistency of whipped cream. At first glance you may wonder where the strawberries are, but once you cut it open you will find a generous portion of fresh, sweet, juicy strawberries and I was pleasantly surprised that they did not make the cupcake soggy.
When I ordered I noticed the sign indicated that the cupcake contains alcohol. When I asked about this I was told that the strawberries are drizzled with a little Grand Marnier. While the flavor of the Grand Marnier was certainly not overwhelming it did provide a little extra flavor to the cupcake and gave it just a little bit of a kick.
Overall, this cupcake is quite unlike many of the other cupcakes I have sampled at Disney World, presenting a nice contrast to the others that are heavy and rich. I will definitely be getting it again sometime soon.
Thanks Michael! Can’t wait to see what else you find for us as you tour the World!

I’ve never found something I didn’t like at the Boardwalk Bakery:)

I wondered what the alcohol was. I couldn’t taste it when I had this cupcake a couple of weeks ago. Mine didn’t have the colored sprinkles, instead it was red sugar (which is a bit classier, I think). Yum, I can’t wait to have another one.

oh my…. I’ll have to see if they are still selling these in November.

Adding this one to my list of treats to try on my next trip. At this rate I won’t have any room for “real” meals it will be all snacks 🙂

I think we should make a rule that whenever someone posts a blog about a cupcake/other snack, they need to provide samples for all readers. I WANT!
Good thing I’ll be at the BWV in 20 days!

That looks just spectacular! Will have to stop at the bakery next time I’m out that way … hopefully this Saturday! 🙂

Want to try these for sure when I go in October with my hubby for our Anniversary trip!

I had this a few months ago, and it is in rotation (not always available) at the Boardwalk Bakery. It was awesome! I am not a fan of icing, so the whipped cream on top was a pleasant surprise. Gotta eat this with a fork, too! This is my favorite cupcake at Disney.

I know I’ve told you this already, lol, but I just had this cupcake this trip, and I’m pretty sure it’s the best cupcake I’ve ever had…and that’s saying a lot considering how often I get cupcakes. 😉 I even walked over from Epcot on our last day to get another, lol, instead of my usual crepe from France or strawberry from Karamel Kuche. It was *that* good. They need to deliver these to NJ for me. 😉

This will be on my “to try” list!!

I just tried this cupcake during my oct trip. It was deeeeeeeeelicious. I also was surprised that the top was whip cream and not frosting. The cake was moist and the strawberries sweet and just the right amount. Would highly recommend making a trip to the Boardwalk bakery for this tasty treat.

Can these be found anywhere other than the boardwalk? The bakery is closed for refurbishment but I’m DYING for one!

My husband loves Strawberry Shortcake and would love this cupcake. However, why do they have to put alcohol in it. He does not drink at all and even the thought that it is in there will keep him from enjoying this treat. Sad 🙁
