The day has finally arrived!
Space 220 has FINALLY opened its doors (or should we say elevator?) to the public in EPCOT! It seems like we’ve been waiting to hear about the opening day for this new restaurant for lightyears. Ok, maybe that’s a little bit of an exaggeration. But it has been a while. After all, we first found out about this innovative space-themed restaurant back in 2017! The restaurant was supposed to open some time ago, but met with delays. Since then we’ve been gathering all the news we could as we waited for more. And now, SPACE 220 HAS ARRIVED! Here’s what you need to know.
We’ll be sharing a FULL REVIEW of the new dining experience soon, but in the meantime, let’s share a first look at this space.
Check-In
Right now, Space 220 is only allowing walk-ups. Reservations for Space 220 became available today (September 20th), but only for dates starting September 27th and on.
Today, we were lucky enough to get an early look at this restaurant as part of a media preview.

During our Media Preview, we got to hear a little bit from Ali Manion, one of the Disney World ambassadors, and other Disney officials.

People are READY to grab their Space 220 spot! As a reminder, this week is first come first serve for dining—so you may want to rope drop if you’re hoping for a table. Reservations begin next week, and opened up this morning in the MDX app. 💫 pic.twitter.com/6vSjddLTxF

When you arrive at the restaurant (which is located right next to Mission: SPACE in EPCOT) you’ll check in to the Space 220 Departure Lounge.
There’ you’ll find some seating so guests can rest while they wait for their reservation to be ready.
There are also check in desks with Cast Members assisting guests.
Here’s a look at the uniforms for the Cast Members in the Departure Lounge as modeled by one of the lovely team members.
After you check in, you’ll be given a Space 220 boarding pass!

Once it’s your turn to dine at Space 220, the real fun begins!
The Space Elevator
When your time to eat at Space 220 arrives, you’ll board the “Space Elevator.”
This elevator will “transport” you what seems like 220 miles above the Earth (hence the name Space 220!) to the Centauri Space Station.

…and head inside the space station!
The Space Station
The dining area is quite expansive. Right away, the view out into space and onto Earth below sets this spot apart from any other restaurant on property.

Seriously, it’s easy to forget you were JUST in EPCOT 2 seconds ago.
Within the restaurant, there are a variety of tables on different levels of elevation.
There are some tables toward the back area on a more elevated platform, so you can still look out and see that amazing view.
There are also tables on a lower level, some of which are located directly next to some of the windows out into “space.”
Throughout your time, you may see a variety of things float past on those windows so be sure to look closely!
What a VIEW!
Here’s a look at some of the seating near the bar.
And here’s a look at the bar itself.
Here’s a look at some of the other tables you’ll find in the space…
…including this circular table for 4.
Keep in mind there is also a Space 220 bar and a lounge you can enjoy in this space.
Wondering what Cast Members wear in “Space?” Well, here’s a peek!
Alright, now let’s tackle food and drinks.
Food and Drinks
Ready to eat? Space 220 has a variety of options for you to pick from! At the tables, you’ll find a QR Code you can scan to see the menus.

Here’s a look at the entrees for dinner, which include short rib, red snapper, duck, and more.

The menu is pretty similar for dinner, with just a few changes. The kids’ dinner menu is also priced at $29.

Debbie says
Was up at 12 AM on 9/20/21 to try and get a reservation for the week of 10/9-10/16. They were all sold out! When did they go up on the website? Tried again at 6 AM….nothing. Did anyone get reservations online? What time?
Thanks
Janice says
Is it possible just to go to the bar to have a drink and look around?
chris says
Very cool looking, thanks for the preview.
JimO says
Good luck getting a reservation here — it may be harder to get than one at the MK Castle. I was online before 3am this morning (in AZ, 6pm ET — Mon Sep 20), and tried to get one from my upcoming visit in Nov. The Dining res system was overloaded and kept failing — kept getting timed out or error message saying try again later. Got close once to making an 11:50am res on Nov 5 — but system couldn’t complete before getting an error. After that couldn’t even get that far — kept trying for over an hour — after that all days just indicate no availability.
David Dominie says
It does not seem worth the price. Won’t be going there.
Amanda R. says
I cannot wait to go to this place! It will be a MUST DO for me and my Science loving girl, for sure!
Nicole Gonzales says
Are all the reservations for the next 60 days booked already????
Chrystie says
AMAZING!!! Looks like so much fun! The food may be just regular “good food”, but the experience is everything.
Nancy says
Yes. I was lucky enough to get a reservation for my trip in November. Looking forward to it- and to your revoew of several dishes.
DebC says
Space 220 Departure Lounge looks a lot like the old Wave waiting area at the Contemporary. Almost like they recycled that old seating.
Anthony says
I tried booking a table for lunch or dinner one of the four nights we’ll be in Disney (10/8-11) this morning right at 7AM and immediately all options said there were no tables available. For kicks I tried every one of the 60 days available in about 10 minutes and they all said no availability. Was this a system glitch or did every single table book up in the first couple of minutes? I was logged in under my Annual Pass member account at the time. Curious if anyone else had the same issue. I just find it hard to believe that many days of reservations actually booked that fast
Matthew says
Do you need a reservation to visit the bar? Is it possible to get a drink and app without a meal?
Curiouser and Curiouser says
Does anyone know if you can go there for just drinks and maybe one appetizer or is it only the course meals?
Barbara Moore says
We are in Disney this week. Any suggestions about how to get in? Not sure I want to rope drop and wait until dinner with 2 children. Any advise would be appreciated.
DFB Sarah says
Barbara, new approach began today! They’re taking same-day reservations. You’ll wait in line at the restaurant, and when you get to the front, they’ll talk to you about what’s available (lunch or dinner) and times, and they’ll set you up with a same-day reservation. If you want to eat or drink at the bar, however, you will wait in line for first-available seating for that.
DFB Sarah says
Matthew, no reservations needed at the bar in Space 220. Currently we’re seeing it’s a first come, first served, so you’ll wait in line until there’s a seat for you. The lounge has its own selection of food items.
DFB Sarah says
Curiouser and Curiouser, you can do drinks and bites at the bar, which is first come, first served. I’ve asked a reporter about doing drinks and sides/lounge food at a table.
DFB Sarah says
Anthony, it appears they did book up that fast. I think the online reservations opened earlier than 7AM. You may want to keep checking now and then to see if something opens up for you.
DFB Sarah says
DebC, it does have some similarities.
DFB Sarah says
Nicole, it appears they were gone within minutes of being available yesterday morning.
DFB Sarah says
Janice, yes. The Lounge is walk-up, so you might have a long wait for an available table. But you can get drinks there as well as order from a Lounge food menu.
DFB Sarah says
Debbie, it appears the reservations opened in the five o’clock hour.
Monica says
DFB Sarah, usually online reservations start at 6am Florida time. But for space 220 it was opened at 5am Florida time?
DFB Sarah says
Monica, evidently the reservations system did open earlier than 6AM this morning. We’ve seen that for something else recently, too, so it may be that they’re not holding to that 6AM start.
JimO says
Hmmm. Disney dining res system — entering the Disney TZ and submitted for your approval… Although they almost NEVER open the dining res system for a new day until 6am ET, on the day that Space 220 goes live they open an hour early. MIGHT it be that the smart folks in charge of the dining res system actually anticipate that they would be slammed for reservations at 6am on Sep 20 for Space 220, and that their system would probably overload and fail for almost an hour as a result of the uncontrollable volume and demand? And by opening an hour earlier, MIGHT they accomplish all goals of fulfilling Space 220 reservations — ie, appeasing the Patinia Restaurant Group execs by delivering and selling out ALL AVAILABLE advance ADRs for Space 220, making themselves look good for delivering and selling out all available ADRS, and allowing smarter/luckier Disney fans who actually attempted booking early to get reservations before the system crashed at 6am? As someone who tried to get a res at 6am ET (and I’m in AZ where it was 3AM !! and got up in the middle of the night to get a res for my upcoming Nov trip!) and couldn’t get the dining system to respond without any errors for almost an hour from 6am-7am ET, you can probably tell I am pretty steamed about the whole system — and actually, I’m upset mostly at myself now, for NOT being smarter and thinking it all through ahead of time and trying to book an hour early — fool me once, shame on them, fool me twice, shame on me — and unfortunately, I have been fooled a LOT more than twice by Disney.
DFB Sarah says
JimO, the timing definitely threw a lot of people for a loop. Unfortunately it seems we don’t typically get hard start times from Disney, so it can be hard (impossible) to plan with these online reservations. Hopefully you’ll find one by checking now and then on My Disney Experience, or you can try for the Lounge on your EPCOT day.
