Details for the 2012 Disney Dining Plans have begun to be unveiled! See Pricing below (thanks to reader Pudge the Fish for this!). And there are a few changes you need to know about if you’re planning a 2012 trip.
Standard Disney Dining Plan to Include Refillable Mugs
Let’s look at the thirst-quenching addition first. The standard Disney Dining Plan will include refillable mugs!
Our first clue that this addition was likely in the works was via the release of the Virgin Holidays 2012 free dining package details for United Kingdom guests. And we can now confirm that refillable mugs will be included in all standard Disney Dining Plan packages! You’ll receive one refillable mug per person for refills at quick-service locations ONLY in your Disney resort hotel.

didn’t fare as well for the 2012 season. If you love snacks (cupcakes, Dole Whip and more!), the significant change is that only one snack will be allowed per person per day on the Quick Service plan. Be still our snack-worthy hearts (and stomachs)!

Wine and Dine Plan Seems to be Missing…
As of right now, we don’t see an indication of the Wine and Dine plan in 2012. As we know, these preliminary info releases are missing a lot of updates and changes that could lock into place closer to the end of the year, so we can’t definitively say that this won’t be returning. All the same, we wanted to give you a heads up that it’s not appearing at the moment.

Guests from the UK still get two snacks per day on the plan, but if they have removed it from USA guests plan then i can see it being removed from the UK 2013 plan. When i plan on going
We’ve booked for May 2012 and we are getting two snack per day. Also we were given free refillable mugs when we went in August 2009. Fingers crossed they dont vito the Disney Dining Plans, because as a party of 8 with 3 children (who tend to waste more than they eat) we find them good value for money. It also mean we dont have to worry about finding an extra £2000 for food when were out there. Shame the soda prices have gone up……but i suppose we cant have everything!!
Oops,sorry folks,doesnt matter where your from, for 2012 the c/s has only one snack per person per day,my friend works at Rose and Crown in Epcot and phones me every sunday night with any news.As far as free mugs in the year 2009,what?i was there last year,staying at PORS and had to pay for mine,but yes they are free this year and next year.
Will the ‘free’ dining plan be offered in the first week of December 2012? If not when will it be offered?
Frances — Currently, “free dining” is only available through dates in March 2012 for United States guests, and September 2012 for many International guests. They have not yet released any information about possible free dining in December 2012.
Frances – no announcement has been made regarding ‘free dining’ for December 2012 yet but this promotion has been in effect for early December for the last 3 years. Announcements for this promotion usually come in the summer, July-August, so stay tuned.
We are going to WDW in early Feb. 2012. We had to choose between the “winter rates” for the room or the “free regular dining plan”. You are NOT allowed to take advantage of both. If you choose the dining plan, the regular room rates apply–if you choose the winter rates for the room, you don’t get the free dining.
Since we eat at the breakfast buffet at our hotel (AKL) which counts as a sit-down meal, and have a sit-down dinner at the parks, it worked out cheaper for us to choose the “winter rates” instead of the “free dining”.
If they are going to advertise “free dining”, I think it should be available IN ADDITION to the regular off-season rates offered at that time of year.
Patti, that’s the rub, eh? While you can take advantage of the room discounts with a regularly priced dining plan, you cannot double up on discounts in free dining times. In our DFB Guide to WDW Dining we look long and hard at that issue to help determine when you’ll get the best deal.
