We’ve been hanging on every detail of the new space-themed restaurant that is currently still under construction in Epcot.
And while Space 220 Restaurant has experienced a few setbacks (it was originally supposed to open in the winter) it seems the final details are finally falling into place — including its flatware!
We’re not normally ones to geek out over what the forks and knives look like at our favorite Disney World’s restaurants, but it seems like all of that’s about to change! You see, Space 220 is pulling out all the stops and is going super high-end with their outer space table settings!

Total Food Service, a source that follows the food industry closely, recently disclosed what Space 220’s new flatware will look like! For the ultra-modern restaurant which is set 220 miles above the Earth, The Patina Group (which is “launching” the new restaurant, has chosen a sleek, sophisticated style of cutlery called “Tilia”. It’s manufactured by Studio William Cutlery and its the black flatware shown in the image below!
“Tilia by Studio William really caught our eye due to its elongated shape. The line was extremely modern and had a space-age quality we couldn’t resist,” says Jaclyn Lerner, Art & Style Director for PRG.
Armed with the pattern’s name and maker, we did a little digging and were pretty shocked by how much this stuff costs! If you want to purchase your own set of “Tilia” flatware, it WON’T come cheap! Service for four in the satin finish costs $328.54 while service for 6 is $480.18! Individual pieces cost $16-$24 on Studio William Cutlery’s website! Space 220 Restaurant is estimated to sit at least 350 guests at a time, so you do the math!

Disney has yet to release an official opening date, but we’ll let you know as soon as we have confirmation TAKEOFF!

They don’t think people will steal this silverware? Even if it weren’t expensive, because it’s a new restaurant and the silverware is unusual, seemed some would be likely to “disappear.”
Plus who pays for expensive silverware, both initial purchases and replacement? We do in menu prices. I don’t mind paying premium for the Disney experience and great food, but not for silverware.
Stupid decision all around IMO. We will go at least once anyway, of course, depending on the menu.

I have been (patiently) waiting to make a reservation, so am following opening date info closely!
I’m sure after the Galaxy’s Edge utensil heist, the staff will be literally counting flatware sets after each table leaves.

This clearly wasn’t Chapek’s decision. He is as cheap as they come.

I now understand what ‘flatware’ is…I learn something new every day. (Not a term that you hear in the UK)😊
Charlene says
I’m sure they get some sort of volume discount, but that’s still pricey.

Pantina Group? I believe it’s the Patina Group….

You would think after the whole “spork” stealing incident Disney would have learned that this is not where money should be spent. Don’t they think that people are going to steal this unique flatware too? This is only going to make this place too outrageously expensive to eat in. I’d rather have cheap flatware and pay less for the experience.

I don’t see spoons.. That knocks the price down in half if most menu items do not require spoons. Black chopsticks are easy and cheap to get. So 50 bucks per place at a table. A metal tin as a plate probably saves a lot of money on plating that other restaurants spend money on. And all of this is reusable. After 50 guests using one set, the restaurant spent $1 per meal on flatware. That will happen in two weeks of being open. Give it a few months, and the cost is negligible towards your menu. No need to freak out about your fork raising your menu prices.
Jill says
Oof! I hate to see the watermarks on those utensils after they’ve been washed!

The atmosphere was amazing the second most amazing thing that I witnessed was that flatware I have to have own some! Food and service was worth the price
