The Disney Parks and Disney Cruise Line have both been holding high standards of cleanliness for the health and safety of guests during the Coronavirus outbreak.
We’ve continued to give you updates on park closures, Disney Cruise reservation changes, and procedures in Disney World. And, there’s even more news to share with you about extra sanitary actions being taken against the Coronavirus in Disney Parks!
According to Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Pamela Hymel, Cast Members will be receiving continual training under the guidance of the CDC.
She states that they will be including protocols “such as:
- Defined cycles for frequent cleaning and disinfection of targeted areas
- Easy access to handwashing facilities and hand sanitizers
- Quick response to spills, trash and other situations
- End of day sanitation procedures for restroom, kitchen, and other facilities
- Frequent cleaning and “wash down” of outdoor locations, including walkways and queues”
If Cast Members feel sick, they will be asked to stay home to prevent the spread of any illness. While they are in the parks, they will be expected to follow guidelines like “washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, following proper respiratory cough etiquette, avoiding close contact with people who are sick and avoiding touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.”
We are thankful to know Disney is taking these additional precautions to protect its guests, cast, and crew during the current Coronavirus situation. We’ll keep you updated on all the news about Disney and the Coronavirus here at DFB!

Now they just need to start enforcing some guidelines on the 80% of the guests that appear to have full blown tuberculosis that aren’t covering their mouth in any way but still decided to have a go at their Disney vacation for the week. Let’s not forget about the 30-40% of the guys I’m observing in the Disney bathrooms not washing their hands after.
Let’s be honest, the risk vector is the huge percentage of guests that have no concept of hygiene at all.
Melanie says
Yes we will be arriving March 20th 😬
Carol says
Yes, we are concerned. We are scheduled to go in April to the Walt Disney Resorts and the Disney cruise for our vow renewal.
We will be praying for the right answer for traveling under this coronavirus threat which in crouches on this very special time for us.
I pray that those who go to Disney sick, keep in mind you will be around others who are going to Disney world and on a Disney Cruise for family time and fun.
Sherrie Simpson says
Heading to Disneyland in 2 weeks. We are concerned especially because we are both over 60. But being in good health, my husband and I are still going and will take all precautions.
Jackie says
Sooooo, what about cleaning things we all touch a million times. Entering the park, safety bars on the rides, bars on lines….?
It’s a respiratory illness. If people are sneezing & touching everything, that’s the problem area.
Denise Connolly says
And it’s our responsibility too to do the same such as not going if not well coughing etiquette and washing our hands aswell. This is everywhere its just a matter of us all looking after ourselves.
Francie says
We were in AK on Friday at the animation drawing and the woman sitting behind me coughed continuously for the whole drawing session. Also I didn’t see any hand sanitizer stations around. They should be placed everywhere!
Steve in NJ says
We pre-purchased a lot of travel size Clorox wipes so we will do our OWN disinfecting, both on the planes, and at the Park. Only a Park closure will keep us from flying down to Orlando next month!!!
Michelle says
We have a trip planned for Disney California in two weeks. What are the thoughts. We have out Lysol wipes our hand sanitizer and our soap Should we travel as planned.

I’m traveling in May with my family, and of course I’m scared about the situation. My question is: the cast members are really following this safety procedures??? I’m
More than exited to go but of course I’m scared because going with my kid
Mark D says
If you are concerned stay at home, don’t complain about what Disney is or is not doing on this Blog. Use common sense, good hygiene practices and be kind to others, it will go along way to make a tough situation better.
judithan says
Adding additional hand sanitizer stations is great but what about upon entry to parks when you cue your magic band and then have to place your finger; that’s alot of fingers.
Carlr says
I agree with Steve from NJ. We will be at WDW in April 2020! With our hand sanitizers and all!
Steve in NJ says
Replying to judithan — another WDW blogger reported that the cast members are actually wiping down the fingerprint devices between EACH use so getting into the parks will be a few seconds longer, but who’s complaining???
bill says
We were in Epcot today and saw 0 measures of anything, no cleaning of anything, no sanitizer anywhere, no workers wiping down anything or cleaning anything, dirty areas….so this seems like a lot of talk on Disney’s part and no action, bathrooms were disgusting as well. There is no extra cleaning going things in fact seemed worse. So I am calling out Disney on this!!! Because I don’t buy it.
Nikki says
I’m going in May and I have a chronic cough because of asthma so I’m gonna have to be treated like a leppa ain’t I. I’m very clean and conscious not everyone who coughs is infected. What am I supposed to do?
Rudy says
We will be there on March 20. Taking lots of hand sanitizer and washing our hands frequently.
Janet says
We cancelled two trips to WDW this year (March and Oct/Nov). Until more is known about COVID-19, there is no way we are jeopardizing our health/lives. A vacation is a luxury, not a necessity.
Patricia May Fillman says
My friend and I cancelled our trip to Epcot yesterday just as a precaution. After seeing some of the previous post that were from yesterday. Glad we didn’t go. Too many people, not worth the risk.
AB says
Can I weAr a hazmat suit into the parks?
🦠🤣🦠🦇🧟♂️😷🤣
Janice says
Supposed to arrive WDW March 19th…Still undecided. I am almost hoping Disney will close the parks to make the decision easier for me
Leanne says
Heard on the news last night that WDW was closing until the end of the month. Don’t know what will happen after that date.
