The current world health crisis has already altered vacation plans by forcing the closure of the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts. But it has also had an impact on theatrical releases.
We’ve got the run-down for you on all of the films from Walt Disney Studios and 20th Century Studios that have been delayed so far because of health measures.
Mulan
The live-action remake of the animated classic was delayed indefinitely after the Los Angeles premiere. The film was to be released in theaters on March 27th. Now, Disney has announced that we’ll be seeing the theatrical release of Mulan on July 24th, 2020.
The film follows Hua Mulan (Liu Yifei) as she takes her ailing father’s place in the Imperial Chinese Army to defend the country from the Huns and discovers her warrior spirit.
At least we have this Mulan merch to fill the hole in our hearts!
Jungle Cruise
We were super pumped to see the film adaptation of one of our favorite Disney rides when Jungle Cruise opened this year. Alas, the film has since been significantly delayed with a new release date slated for July 30th, 2021.
This film follows two explorers (played by Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt) as they traverse the dangerous Amazon looking for a legendary tree with healing powers.
The New Mutants
This spin-off of Marvel’s X-Men franchise was set to come out originally on April 13th. In the movie, five young mutants find their powers awakening and must escape from a strange facility that they find themselves in.
The Personal History of David Copperfield
This adaptation of the 1850 novel by Charles Dickens focuses on the life and times of David Copperfield (Dev Patel) who dreams of becoming a writer. The film has already premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and in the United Kingdom, but was set to open here in the States on May 8th.
Black Widow
Black Widow’s solo outing in the MCU has also been postponed from its original May 1st opening date. The film will now be released on November 6th, 2020.
Taking place after the events of Captain America: Civil War, Natasha Romanoff has to make peace with her previous life as a spy when some old friends come calling.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, set to open in February on the day that The Eternals is now opening, is set to release on May 7th, 2021. This is another MCU film that will introduce a new character from Marvel comics to the big screen.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Following the pattern, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings took Doctor Strange 2‘s release date. So the Doctor Strange flick will now release November 5th, 2021.
Thor: Love and Thunder
And the last of the domino release dates is for Thor: Love and Thunder. Originally set to release when Doctor Strange 2 is releasing, the film now has a release on February 18th, 2022.
Artemis Fowl
Artemis Fowl, based on the popular book series is about a genius kid who ends up in a fight against underground fairies. The film was originally set to debut in theaters this May 29th, but will now debut on Disney+ with no theatrical release.
