It’s true many as workers across the country are being released from their jobs as a result of these recent events.
The hospitality industry has been one of the hardest industries hit as leisure travel and public gatherings in event spaces as well as restaurants and bars is against the law in many states right now.
Earlier, we reported Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin Resort which is overseen by Marriott has temporarily closed. One of the world’s biggest hotel companies, Marriott is largely based in Orlando and recently announced they would be shutting down all of its properties.
Workers are being furloughed while all Marriott service centers are expected to remain closed through April 6th. The company also announced all of Marriott’s resorts will be closed to guests through April 23rd.
Marriott’s CEO Arne Sorenson has recently announced, “I will not be taking any salary for the balance of 2020 and my executive team will be taking a 50% cut in pay.” Sorenson is one of many chief executives to come forward in recent days and state they’ll be taking a massive pay cut according to Yahoo! Finance.
Sorenson went on to state, “In terms of our business, COVID-19 is like nothing we’ve ever seen before.”
We will continue to keep you updated on the Swan and Dolphin hotel closures.
