Since the theme parks have been closed for almost a month, we’ve been daydreaming about the next time we’ll be able to hop on our favorite rides in Disney World!
While Orlando has recently implemented a curfew and stay-at-home order to keep everyone safe, Disney World has also decided to keep its gates closed “until further notice.” And, the Orange County mayor recently commented on how long he thinks local businesses could be closed.
According to Click Orlando, a division of Orlando’s CBS affiliate, Mayor Jerry Demings has reportedly said that businesses might not start opening for another two months.
During a town hall meeting, he stated: “I believe, given the models, it could be June — early June — where we see some relaxing of the restrictions in place. But they would have to stay in place to some degree through late summer.”
Both the mayor and Disney officials have stated that they will do whatever they can to keep people safe during this time. We will continue to keep you updated with more information!

Opening up small businesses is very different than opening up a major resort or family park. I would be very careful that Disney does not associate the two as the same. If a Disney Park has a major coronavirus outbreak it will take a long time to get the confidence of the Disney fans to return to the parks.
