Last summer, it was announced that Universal Orlando Resort would be opening a brand new theme park: Universal’s Epic Universe.
Epic Universe will ultimately join Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure and the Volcano Bay water park when it makes its debut at the Resort. However, it has been announced that the construction of the new theme park has met with delays in light of the current global health situation which has led to the temporary closure of Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Hollywood as well as Walt Disney World and other Disney destinations.
Epic Universe was slated to open in 2023. Comcast owns NBCUniversal, and Comcast CEO Brian Roberts did not share how the delay in construction will affect the opening timeline.
He did, however, share in a statement that: “This is a moment in time; and when it passes, I am very confident that the decisions we are making now will enable us to emerge from this crisis as a healthy, strong company that is well positioned to continue to grow and succeed.”
We will continue to keep you posted on how the current situation is affecting Disney Parks and other theme parks as this story continues to develop.
