Now that Governor Ron DeSantis has delivered his guidelines for Phase One to reopen Florida, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings is expected to discuss his strategy on Friday.
Governor Ron DeSantis gave the announcement yesterday that starting May 4th, Florida restaurants and retail stores could resume regular business but with a 25% indoor occupancy.
According to Orlando’s News 6 WKMG, Mayor Demings says it might take a little more time for businesses to re-open in Orange County where Walt Disney World Resort partially resides.
Mayor Demings has been discussing and receiving guidance from the Orange County Economy Recovery Task Force. During one of the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force meetings Demings said, “In order for people to have ample time to prepare to get their workers back to work and get all the equipment they need, it takes some planning.”
While we’ll have to wait for details regarding Mayor Deming’s plan for Orange County, he’s previously mentioned any plan would need to include a phased approach. “How we reopen Orange County must be done with extreme care,” Demings said. “We do not want to open too quickly without a solid plan in place.”
