Though a few of the Disney resorts around the world remain closed right now, most are OPEN!
Around the globe, Disney has gotten pretty far in the reopening process. Let’s take a look at each of the resorts and see exactly what is open and available for guests.
Walt Disney World
The Disney World theme parks closed on March 16, but they are back open as are many other locations around the resort.
On May 20, Disney Springs began a phased reopening. During this initial phase of reopening, only a limited amount of third party retailers and restaurants were open, with limited capacity and hours.
We have full coverage of opening day, including restaurant reviews and shopping updates. On May 27, some Disney owned and operated retail locations, including World of Disney reopened in Disney Springs as well!
There are various health and safety protocols put in place during Disney Spring’s initial reopening phase. These include required face masks for both Guests and Cast Members, temperature screenings upon entering, increased sanitization, and physical distancing efforts.

Several locations in Disney World have remained open throughout the duration of the park and resort closures. The golf courses have remained open (including FootGolf!). This does not include both of Disney World’s mini-golf courses. Although Fantasia Gardens Mini Golf has now reopened!
The Disney World resort hotels began opening with DVC properties on June 22nd and several more have opened since then. The full schedule of reopening dates shows that we should see a few more hotel openings in the next two months, but there are still several hotels that do NOT have reopening dates.
In July, the Disney World theme parks reopened with Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom reopening on July 11th, and EPCOT and Hollywood Studios opening on July 15th.
The parks all have limited offerings, enhanced safety measures, and limited capacities.
Disneyland Resort
Disneyland Resort closed around the same time as Disney World. July reopening dates were announced for Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, and some of the Disneyland Resort Hotels. However, the reopening has since been delayed indefinitely due to government guidance in California.
Though much of the resort remains closed, Downtown Disney reopened on July 9th with health measures and limited offerings.
Shanghai Disneyland
The Shanghai Disney Resort closed its gates on January 25, the first of the Disney resorts to do so amidst the global health crisis. Since then, they have made the most progress amongst all of the Disney resorts when it comes to reopening.
On Monday, May 11, Shanghai Disneyland park REOPENED! Signs pointed to an impending reopening soon after reports emerged of their fireworks show being tested as well as quiet testing of new safety protocols.
While the park has opened its gates for the first time in over 100 days, several entertainment offerings will not be available initially for guests.
Their shopping and dining district, Disneytown, Wishing Star Park, as well as the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, have been open since March 9.
The hotel’s character dining location, Lumiere’s Kitchen, resumed business operations, initially open for brunch and dinner on weekends. Plus, fireworks have even returned to the park on a trial basis.

Hong Kong Disneyland
The Hong Kong Disney Resort closed shortly after Shanghai on January 26.
Hong Kong Disneyland reopened shortly after Shanghai Disneyland on June 18th with a new reservation system and significant health measures.
However, due to government and health official mandates over the global health crisis, the park was re-closed on July 15th and currently remains closed until further notice.
Tokyo Disney Resort
Tokyo Disney Resort closed at the end of February.
The Tokyo Disney theme parks officially reopened on July 1st and remain open today. They’ve even announced an upcoming all-new nighttime spectacular!
Disneyland Paris
Disneyland Paris closed beginning March 14th and the closure lasted almost exactly as long as Disney World’s did with the park beginning a phased reopening on July 15th.
Now the park remains open with many of the health and safety measures that we’re seeing elsewhere around the world.
Disney Vacation Club’s Hilton Head and Vero Beach Resort
DVC properties Disney’s Hilton Head Resort and Disney’s Vero Beach Resort reopened on June 15th and have continued to welcome guests after having closed in March.
