Just yesterday we found out the Universal Orlando intends to open on June 5th.
Naturally, this has us wondering when Disney parks will seek to reopen (they are set to submit their proposal next week). Today, the Guest Relations team from the domestic parks released a statement about expectations for Disney World and Disneyland. Here’s what they said.
The statement posted on Disney Parks Blog, serves as an update to the many Disney guests who are seeking an upcoming Disney vacation. In it, the Guest Relations team explains that there is still much uncertainty about when the Disney parks will reopen, so they have had to periodically adjust the booking window and cancelations.
The team explains that these adjustments are not necessarily the final dates and that changes to booked experiences, park tickets, and park passes may continue to shift in the coming weeks. Just yesterday, guests received emails that vacations through mid-June had been canceled and at this time Disney is accepting new reservations beginning July 1.
As a reminder, if you have any reservations that need to be changed or canceled, the Guest Relations team will work with you to make sure all of the necessary modifications are made. Stay tuned with DFB as we report in on any more updates from the Disney team.

Universal reopening is written as July 5, did you mean June 5 or has there been another change?
Amy says
I believe you have the wrong opening date for Universal. Is t it June 5th not July 5th?
Allison Prange says
Looks like there’s a small typo at the beginning of the article. It says Universal is set to open on July 5th, but I’m pretty sure their proposal was for a June 5th reopening. No biggie, just wanted to let y’all know 🙂
Appreciate all the updates and insight you’re bringing us in these uncertain times.
And thanks so much for all you do! You guys keep our Disney dreams alive anytime we’re not in the parks <3

ALL reservations made in July are in vain. I went to the Boardwalk resort and it says that they are “temporarily closed until July 30, 2020.” Apparently they know something we don’t. I wish Disney would just come out and be real about it. Just say it. “We don’t foresee opening until July.” Instead they’re dragging this along and us with it.

Wondering what the plans are for Passholders? Are they planning to extend the months missed to the date they open on limited basis, or to full re-opening? Disney silence is deafening.
DFB Sarah says
Correct — it’s JUNE 5. We’ve corrected!

I’m concerned about the fact of even when they do reopen, it will be at a lower capacity and therefore what happens to all of us that have prepaid vacations and specific day park tickets? Who will they ‘pick’ can still go to the park.
For example – if they will only allow 20% capacity in the parks, I’m sure they have already sold way over 20% capacity tickets on specific dates… so will they cancel people in advance? Or keep the money and turn people away at the door? If they will cancel people in advance – who makes the cut??
