The NBA has confirmed that they’re in talks with the Walt Disney Company to potentially finish their season in Orlando.
While the NBA season was previously suspended in response to health concerns, the league is now considering potential locations where they could finish the season at a single site. We previously reported that Disney World is a potential frontrunner, and the NBA has now confirmed that Disney is one of the locations being considered.
The NBA is currently considering resuming its season in late-July at a single site. The league is in talks with the Walk Disney Company to potentially hold games at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, which is located on Disney World property in Orlando.
According to NBA spokesman Mike Bass, the conversations are still exploratory, but in this scenario, the site would be used for games, practices, and housing. This would eliminate the need for travel, thus reducing potential health concerns.
Bob Iger also met with NBA owners earlier this year to discuss their plans for potentially resuming play.

Load of garbage no talks with DVC Members. You know for the resorts we already pay/paid for.
If I could sell instantly, I would.

I don’t no where they are planning to house everyone for this but if their plan is to put people from the NBA into rooms that they have vacant from cancelling people’s vacation that would be pretty bad. Some families save and save and may go once in a lifetime and too have that dream vacation cancelled because they are told it may not be healthy only to discover that it’s healthy enough for someone from the NBA to stay in would be pretty rotten. Don’t know for sure whether this will happen but it sounds like it may be a possibility.

@David Dickson I agree, but at least those people got refunds. DVC Members gotnothing & we’re being charged the full amount of dues & maintenance. With nominal (security & grounds, maybe some engineering) staff. Property tax, no problem. So are they going to give our reservations to the NBA? I’m sure NBA players & staff aren’t going to stay at POP century of All-Star sports…
It’s a load of garbage all around. And I’m glad you’re at least another individual who pointed this out. DVC Member services said it was a “rumor.” I didn’t believe that 2-3 weeks ago & certainly not after ESPN announced it.
