We just learned that Disney World is temporarily suspending FastPass+ reservations, canceling existing Dining Reservations and Disney Dining Plans, and halting Extra Magic Hours once the parks reopen on the proposed mid-July date.
And now, we noticed a quiet change to the language pertaining to who will be required to wear masks at the parks upon their reopening.
Until now, Disney had stated that guests aged three and up would be required to wear face coverings at all times when visiting the parks.
Now, we’ve spotted that Disney has altered its language to state that guests aged two and up will be required to wear a mask when visiting Disney World.
Disney has not released any further information about this change at this time. We’ll update you as we learn more.

What do you think of this change to who has to wear masks in Disney World? Let us know in the comments.
Laurie says
No mask needed!
Not going back till this charade is over with!
Janet says
My vacation was canceled in april due to the virus. At this point not sure when it will resecduled. I dont want to wear a mask. I am not happy about this.
kyle says
I thought it was laughable that they thought 3 year olds could or would wear a mask for hours on end, but now they’re really feeling ambitious.
Also, I think it’s pretty backwards. A 2 year old in a mask is (I’m guessing) about 6000 times more likely to touch their face lol
Terri Jennings says
This mask wearing is ridiculous for healthy people! Everyone 2 and over they are required? In the Florida heat? What a joke. I am a HUGE Disney person, AP, DVC, and I am NOT setting foot in the parks with this rule in place. See below from the WHO.
“The World Health Organization is recommending healthy people, including those who don’t exhibit COVID-19 symptoms, only wear masks when taking care of someone infected with the contagion, a sharp contrast from the advice given by American public health officials who recommend everyone wear a mask in public.
“If you do not have any respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough or runny nose, you do not need to wear a mask,” Dr. April Baller, a public health specialist for the WHO, says in a video on the world health body’s website posted in March. “Masks should only be used by health care workers, caretakers or by people who are sick with symptoms of fever and cough.”
Casey says
Disney World had better hope to live up to their tagline of being “The Most Magical Place On Earth,” since I have a feeling it will require nothing short of magic or perhaps sorcery to get all children, let alone children who are two years old, to comply with wearing masks all day long at the Magic Kingdom in the blistering heat of the Orlando sun.
Dawn says
While I understand protecting everyone by wearing face masks, it appears there should be more thought to the heat in Florida and possible medical issues that are bound to arise. It appears that it may be better to wait for cooler temperatures if this is going to be a requirement, especially for children.
Dvc member says
Shame on you Disney. I hope you go out of business!!!
Meagan says
My 4 year old cannot even where a mask reliably, thinking that my son who will be two in August could possibly where a mask at all is laughable.
Penny says
Comments are spot on-3 was ridiculous enough, a 2-year old in a mask?! I predict a huge rash of annual pass cancellations-ours included-and a huge financial loss until Disney wakes up and drops this “feel good” but ultimately worthless, and some might say harmful, policy.
CeCe says
Nicely said, Casey. Lol! Magic indeed. 😷 Honestly, I don’t think it is worth taking any kids under 12 to Disney until the mask requirements are lifted. Its frustrating enough for parents to keep temper tantrums at bay under normal theme park conditions, let alone worrying about keeping a child masked. Sure glad I don’t have little ones anymore.
Lori says
I hope they are preparing for totally empty parks. What a horrible experience the whole thing will be!
Margot says
Unless you get tested every day, you don’t really know if you are well, you could be asymptomatic. Do you really want to take the chance and make me sick? Even though I don’t agree with anti-maskers I don’t want to make any of them sick or pass along virus germs to make their family members sick. It makes it seem I value your life, why don’t you value mine? We can all find quotes from experts to back our positions, but even Trump’s own guidelines show the need for masks. It’s clear it helps. If you don’t want to wear one, fine, don’t. But then you chose where to go. I am a masker so I can’t go places that don’t require masks. My choice. That’s what freedom is. It’s not setting the rules, it’s following them, or not partaking in the activity. The sooner everyone complies the sooner and more lasting the recovery will be. Look at places that have had to reclose, or retreat from reopening because of spikes.
Finally I don’t know how to look at over 100,000 bodies and not feel an overwhelming desire to do everything possible to mitigate any more losses (let alone call it a hoax) . As Mirage put it to Syndrome in Disney’s The Incredibles, “Valuing life is not weakness. And disregarding it is not strength. Next time you gamble, bet your own life. ”
Having said all that, maybe the point is, it’s too soon to be in the parks safely. Maybe 2 and 3 year old kids who literally suck their thumbs and pick their noses and sneeze in people’s faces shouldn’t be in the parks yet. Maybe none of us should masked or not. Big signs everywhere telling you that entering is at your own risk. Do I desperately want to go and feel “normal” again? OMG yes! But it’s just not gonna happen. Not yet. I hope and pray we can all meet in 2021 sometime and celebrate 50 years and be kind and considerate to each other, respecting different opinions and making choices based on our needs, wants, and desires. Until then, stay safe, stay well.
Paul Alter says
I really don’t understand what all the complaining is about. The CDC is clear on the value of you wearing a mask – it protects others. Disney is clear that they are willing to take visitation hits to provide as safe as environment as they can given the circumstances. No, I won’t be going to Disney while this is all going on, even though I really want to make up for our trip to Disneyland in May that was cancelled.
But, if I did decide to go, yes, I would wear a mask. I would insist that my entire party wear masks. And social distancing. And, in doing so, showing respect for the cast members and other guests. It’s just part of the Disney experience. It’s part of what being a Disney fan is all about.
As Master Yoda would say, “Do. Or do not. There is no try.”
Dee Nice says
WDW should just ban children under, say, the age of 10. Then, when things are back to normal, younger kids can go. I’d like to go at that time! No little kids? That would be worth it. Adults love Disney .
Ed Donnelly says
Everyone I know has said they will not go to the theme parks again until they have at least dumped the “must wear a mask” rule. On a side note, I think charging full price admission is wrong since many aspects of the parks will be closed and/or cancelled.
Jenny says
I’m a Disney annual pass holder and I will not be going to Disney if I have to wear a mask in the Florida heat!! It’s way to hot and the humidity is unbearable! People are going to pass out!! Disney should say Enter at your own risk limit the capacity and just do Florida residents .
Bart Brine says
This is becoming a very sad joke!!
Jenn B says
The conundrum with masks is that people do not use them properly thus making their helpfulness null and void. You are not supposed to touch them at all because the virus is so small it will sit on the outside as well as the inside of your mask. Once you touch it and don’t wash your hands immediately afterwards, you are spreading the virus, if you have it. Small children are going to have an extremely difficult time not touching it. I don’t see many adults who can wear it without touching (me included). I want Disney to open and I understand they have to do what needs to be done to at least get the ball rolling. However, the reality is many people will choose to not to visit the parks until restrictions are much lighter (I postponed my trip out an additional six months – so in a year and a half with hopes it will feel like Disney again). Thankfully, we live in a country where we can make choices (we don’t have to go into a business where we find their practices questionable or awkward). While I personally disagree on the effectiveness of masks, Disney is taking on a liability when opening their parks. If people get sick and want to blame Disney, Disney needs to have things in place to reduce the likelihood of getting sued.
Kathy Blackmore says
No one is forcing you to go to Disney I am sure it will be better in time. My concern would be for my children hoping they would not catch this virus being that there could be people there that are walking around asymptomatic that do not even know they may have it. I would hope that all that do go understand they are trying to help a hard stitution and make it safer. Please be safe for all that go and follow the rules.
Gray says
Although this sounds crazy for a 2 year old to wear a mask; why not make it fun and more practical? A storm trooper face shield, or other themed ones? At least this alternative you are still protected/protecting others, they are definitely more comfortable in heat, and it can be an enhancement instead of a burden?
Yvonne says
I agree with Margot.
I understand why Disney is doing what they are doing. It is a very difficult situation.
Our whole family is a Disney family. We love Disney but we are just not going until it is safe and open. If that takes 1 – 2 years so be it.
Lunda says
If you don’t like the rules or can’t abide by them it’s best to wait . You have the option to go or not.
Linda M Nabozny says
I have to say reading these comments people are way out there telling disney what they should and shouldn’t do. Disney has a BIG RESPONSIBILITY of keeping there guests and staff members safe and are doing it the best way as of now that they can. While I am not a fan of some of these procedures I understand them. My family are HUGE DISNEY PEOPLE and we are choosing to wait to come back until we can experience the FULL HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH. Like it or not it’s your choice to go when YOU WANT. Stop complaining go or don’t that simple.
Debbie Downer says
Disney has to protect people from each other when they open. If you don’t want to wear a mask, stay home. I’m going and I’ll enjoy the short lines and rides.
Gary Lord says
Simple. Wear a mask if you wish to reduce the chance of infection. Don’t wear one if you’re happy to take a chance. It isn’t breathing and sneezing that necessarily spread the virus it’s poor hand hygiene. Wearing masks should be a personal choice not an imposition.
Nikki says
Our Disney holiday was cancelled in April. We are huge fans and won’t be returning until masks are no longer required. Couldn’t possibly survive wearing a mask in the heat and humidity 🙁
Ashley says
Many of the people complaining about the mask requirement need to realize that you DONT have to go to Disney. Disney does not need your money. Going to Disney is a not a right, it’s a privilege and they have a duty to keep their parks as safe as possible. If you have a problem with that, don’t go! More room for us childless millennials. Sorry, but it’s our time to thrive.
Michael Burcj says
While the stupidity of expecting a two or three year old to wear a mask in Florida in the summer, I think the stupidest decision they made was to halt construction during the park closure. Wouldn’t it have made sense to take advantage of no guests or cast members and expedite construction??? Just saying. BTW, Universal didn’t stop construction during their closure. I’m a resident pass holder who is becoming increasingly disenchanted with Disney.
Harry Adams says
Can not wait to see how they keep people apart on the bus. People will have to wait for hours to get a bus or any other transportation if they limit the amount of people.
Emily says
I just dont think Disney really wants to open. Cancelled countless reservations, canceled dining, character meals, canceled fastpass, no guarantee entry if you have flown out, wear a mask, no fireworks. Hmmm. No thanks
LEO LeBeau says
I am so disappointed in Disney but none the less I will not be taking my family until there back to normal
Heather says
Our April trip was cancelled and we wont be back until mask requirements are over. Ridiculous enough but especially in the heat and expecting kids to wear them.
Steven says
We have reservations for September but if masks are still required, we’ll be rescheduling or canceling. I certainly understand Disney is between a rock and hard place with this, but the reality is neither my 2 year old daughter nor my 6 year old autistic son will wear a mask.
ANTHONY DICICCO says
IF THIS IS A WAY TO CURB PARK ATTENDANCE, IT WILL WORK . MY GRANDCHILDREN WONT TOLERATE WEAR A MASK, SO THAT 7 OF US WHO WONT RUSH TO GO TO ANY PARK.
Karina zalozh says
this is ridiculous. My birthday is coming in summer and it’ll be in August 31st, I’m going to turn 15 and usually it’s always been a thing between me and my mom to go to theme parks for my birthday. last I went to Disney when I turned 14, I just want or at least wanted now that Disney is being quite absurd with the whole restriction thing, to have fun in Disney world and not be reminded every second, every sign, every employee, about the outside world and what I need to do. I’m sick. Of seeing masks on everyone and having to see a sign on the floor telling me to stay 6 feet apart from somebody. I get what their going at, but why would I wear a mask in burning heat? I would pass. out. and that’s not ok. if Disney can figure out at least some way to make this not a constant reminder of covid, but a magical experience for everyone and my family.
Jack says
No more Disney trips until the mask requirement is lifted. Mask and vacation do not go together.
Pro-mask says
Don’t like the rules? Don’t go.
Patty says
Rules, no rules, the Magic Kingdom is supposed to be just that, MAGIC. It’s supposed to be the happiest place on earth, isn’t that what they have always claimed? Personally I am not HAPPY to wear a mask. Not only are they extremely uncomfortable but the CDC says they don’t even work to prevent any virus. So yes you have the option to go or not go, but if you’ve looked forward to this for any reason you should have the RIGHT to wear a mask or not.
Paul Alter says
The CDC is pretty clear that wearing cloth face coverings is an effective way of reducing viral spread from the person wearing it. A social contract: I help protect you; you help protect me.
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/about-face-coverings.html
And technically: The official tagline for Disneyland is “The Happiest Place On Earth”, while the tagline for Magic Kingdom is “The Most Magical Place On Earth”.
🙂
ANTHONY DICICCO says
OK, SO FOOD AND WINE IS GOING ON, EVEN MODIFIED, HOW CAN YOU WEAR A MASK THERE?
MJ says
People who are frightened of getting sick should not go to theme parks. There is always risk that you must assume when you leave your home. I will not spend thousands of $ to endure the nonsense rules Disney has imposed. No fireworks or parades? Letting my AP expire and will wait for Disney to make realistic decisions. Hopefully there are still adults working there in some capacity.
Steven Burk says
Just called reservations (again) regarding the mask requirement, now that it’s closer to opening and they have a plan in place. We have reservations for September and I’m willing to bet the mask requriement will be in full effect then. So I asked (again) if masks would be required for special needs children (6 year old autistic son) and they said it would be. No exceptions, 2 years and up. Looks like we’ll be rescheduling, eventually, for 2021.
MakanaHoku says
Will disney honor admission to individuals who are medically exempt from wearing masks according to The CDC?
DFB Sarah says
MakanaHoku, Disney says “no exceptions.”
