It’s been a long time since the last time we stood in front of our beloved castle! And we’ll be able to see it again on July 11th when Magic Kingdom reopens!
And as you may recall, Cinderella Castle had just begun to receive her royal makeover shortly before the parks closed. The rosy gold paint job was going up FAST, but due to the temporary closures, all construction projects were put on hold!
But thanks to DFB Reader @bioreconstruct, we can see work on Cinderella Castle has once again resumed! These are aerial photos of how the castle looks TODAY!
Is it just us, or does the royal makeover seem to be happening at lightspeed? Look at all those cherrypickers!
In this shot, you can actually see folks standing in Fantasyland! Could they be training? Maybe!
The rest of the park is ghostly calm and quiet — almost as empty as Magic Kingdom appeared on the first day of Disney World’s closure, but not for very much longer!
We’re so excited to see this sneak peek of Cinderella Castle and see how gorgeous she’s looking! There’s still a lot of work to be done, but judging by these photos, we’re wondering if Disney World is hoping to welcome us all with a completely-finished castle! Only time will tell!

Gee. Imagine how much construction could have been completed if Disney did not tie the hands of the construction companies into not allowing them to work. You know… because they wanted to look like a wine company.
Everything could have been finished by now. Everywhere.

I don’t think that Ariel (little mermaid) was taking photos from the air. Those look like aerial photos (from the air). Castle is looking good. I had wondered why Disney wouldn’t use this great opportunity (no one in the park) to fix a lot of things (like the People Mover).

I could cry. I miss WDW so much and when it does open, it won’t be normal. Normal, please hurry back.

Chris, being “up where they walk” just wasn’t enough; now she’s taking to the skies. 😉 (I fixed the error — thanks!)

Stopping construction was ridiculous! My son is in commercial construction. It is considered “essential“ so he never stopped work. Why on earth Disney stopped everything is, mildly putting it, curious. As others have said, they could have used the down time to race through projects. Who’s hair brain idea was it to stop?

Am I alone when I say I hate the new blue? I don’t mind the pale rose as much but that blue is just too bright and garish!
DFB Sarah says
Tricia, I’m sure you’re not alone in this. I keep thinking it looks like someone applied a saturation filter.
