Disney World is set to begin a phased reopening of the theme parks on July 11th, but we won’t all have to wait that long.
Between limited capacities and the new theme park reservation system, we’re wondering IF we’ll be able to get into the parks when they open. On the other hand, some Annual Passholders in the Disney World area will be able to get into the parks BEFORE July 11th! Disney just announced the dates for the Annual Passholder previews!
The screenshot below is taken from the Walt Disney World website. Note that while we were aware of the significance of June 22nd and June 26th (you can read more about the theme park reservation that’s mentioned for those dates here, by the way), July 9th and 10th are the dates listed for Annual Passholder Previews at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom theme parks!
Disney also states that: “Weekday Select, Theme Park Select, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus and Premier Passholders will have the opportunity to register for a special preview at Magic Kingdom park or Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park on July 9 or 10.” Annual Passholders should be on the lookout for e-mail invitations with registration details SOON.
Reservations will be required and limited, and available on a first-come, first-served basis. An eligible activated annual pass is required for Preview registration. Also note that if eligible Passholders would like to bring a guest, the guest must also have a valid Weekday Select, Theme Park Select, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus or Premier annual pass. Additionally, your guest must be included on your Family & Friends list (in your Disney account) and have opted to share “All My Plans” with you.
We’ll post when we have more info about the Passholder Previews and we’ll be reporting in from the events as well! As always, you can count on us for the latest updates!

Elle says
Can someone please explain to me what an “activated” annual pass is?
We paid in full for four platinum passes two months ago but have not used them yet. They are linked to MDE account and show up just fine as AP tix, but if I’m reading this right we are out of luck for the AP preview days because we haven’t yet gone into the parks with them.

My birthday is on the 9th, so happy birthday to me! Hopefully I’ll be able to get the day off! 😁

Happy early birthday, Lisa!

Elle, APs have to be activated in person at Guest Relations at the Parks or Disney Springs. I’m not sure if a confirmed Pass that has not yet been activated will be eligible or not. Typically, when you add a confirmed AP to your My Disney Experience, that’s sufficient for things like making a Resort reservation at the AP rate, so they are relevant for some things in Disney’s system. I think a call to Disney to clarify would be your best bet. Good luck!

Does anyone know when they will send emails out for the reservation
DFB Sarah says
Christina, no word on when emails will go out. We will update as soon as we know they’re going out.
Carole says
THANK YOU DFB FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO!. I COULDN’T NAVIGATE WITHOUT YOU!

My wife and I are Florida residents. We are on the monthly payment plan. My wife called to cancel the passes and was told we couldn’t cancel. My understanding of the monthly plan was, if you wanted to cancel you could because you were paying on a monthly basis. With things the way they are now we just want to get out of the monthly payment plan. Has anyone else had this problem with Disney?
