As many of you may know, Disney is implementing a BRAND NEW reservation system for their grand reopening and up until this point, we had VERY few details on how the system would operate.
Now, Disney World has just released ALL the details on when this new system will go live and what guests will need to do in order to get a reservation.
Beginning June 22, Disney Resort guests and other select hotel guests with valid theme park admission can make reservations. On June 26th, Annual Passholders WITHOUT a resort stay can make reservations. Then on June 28, existing ticket holders can make reservations.
These theme park reservations will be available through September 26, 2021, and will be based on your resort stay and ticket eligibility or ticket eligibility window.
How Disney’s New Reservation System Works
Step 1: Link Your Admission to Your Disney Account
Step 2: Create Your Party from your Friends and Family list
Step 3: Select a Date and Park
Step 4: Review and Confirm Your Plans
Additional Details
Disney has shared a few specific details regarding reservations. For starters, “reservations are limited and subject to availability and are not guaranteed until a reservation is finalized.”
Disney also shared information about park hopping. When the parks reopen, guests will initially be able to select ONE park per day. Park hopping will be temporarily unavailable due to capacity limits.
We have all the details regarding Park Hopping here.
A reservation MUST be made EACH day of entry. That means that even if you have a multi-day ticket, you will need to make a park reservation for each day you plan to visit the parks.
Disney highly recommends “that you make your park reservation as soon as you complete your ticket purchase, as availability can change until the reservation is finalized.”
Future Disney Vacation Details
According to Disney, “If you booked a vacation package, your ticket eligibility is tied to your package travel dates. To make a park reservation for a different date, be sure to modify your vacation package dates.”
Ticket Sales and Hotel Reservations
Disney is planning to resume ticket sales and new hotel reservations later this summer.
This will all be based on the availability of park reservations.
You can read MORE about Disney resuming ticket sales and hotel bookings here.
2021 Vacation Information
Now, for those of you who have a hotel stay at a Disney Resort or other select hotel in 2021, Disney has said to “please call the Disney Reservation Center or call your travel professional beginning on June 24 to upgrade to a vacation package with tickets—and then make your theme park reservations.”
Guests looking to book a 2021 vacation will be able to do so by June 28th.

Disney World will begin its phased reopening of its theme parks on July 11th and select hotels will reopen on June 22nd. We will be reporting on all the need-to-know details, so be sure to stay tuned.

DFB Sarah says
Arlene, I’m so grateful for your update. Thank you!
DFB Sarah says
Anthony, in theory it sounds like you could be.
Debbie says
Tried to reserve park tickets today for Oct trip. Disney app doesn’t appear to be able to do it. What is the step by step process?
DFB Sarah says
Debbie, we think you need to be on a web browser. Here’s out walk through of the system.
Terri says
I am frustrated that room only 2021 can upgrade to a ticket package on June 24, but room only 2020 have to wait until June 28 or later to upgrade to a ticket package. This does not make sense to me. Shouldn’t they take care of 2020 guests first?
DFB Sarah says
Terri, I think they’re waiting to gauge how many Disney Park Pass reservations for 2020 are swooped up in the first days of the new system in order to determine how many more guests they can sell to and still maintain capacity. I’m sure that doesn’t help those frustrated with the wait, but I did want to clarify my understanding of it. Good luck!
Tricia says
I’m concerned that my family and I won’t be able to make a reservation for the dates that we already bought our tickets for. We bought them 3 months ago. July 18-25 . We bought airfare and lodging already too.. very scared our dream trip won’t work.
DFB Sarah says
Tricia, have you logged in to make your reservations? If you have a Disney Resort reservation and valid tickets, you can do that today. If you’re staying off-site and have valid tickets in your Disney account, you should be able to make your Disney Park Pass reservations on June 28.
Laura Hansen says
Any idea when military tickets will go back on sale? We have trip planned for December and no tickets yet, and it is a little concerning that the 2020 salute page on the disney website is now the stitch error message.
Jo Fisher says
So upset. My friend and I have hotel reservations at POP in October. We can not make park reservations for our last day for her. It says she has reached her reservation limit.
DFB Sarah says
Jo, I would recommend you keep trying. It is possible the system is glitchy. If you keep having trouble and get through on the phone or chat, see if Disney can offer an insight.
DFB Sarah says
Laura, Disney is saying 2020 ticket sales will resume later this summer, which could mean as soon as next week (but could be later, of course). I don’t know for sure that this is what’s going on with the Military Salute, but perhaps Disney can help clear this up if you can get through on the phone or chat? Good luck!
CARLA says
One of your blogs stated that reservations for 2021 start on June 28th. Does that apply to new reservations?
Laura says
Thanks Sarah. I just called and the cast member was unsure if they will be offering the military salute when tickets go back on sale :/
DFB Sarah says
Laura, what a bummer! Possibly you can get info from a different reservations cast member; we often get conflicting information. But otherwise, I’ll be crossing my fingers for you!
DFB Sarah says
Carla, yes. So, if you need entirely new tickets and reservations for 2021, that is supposed to be live on June 28. If you have a room-only reservation for 2021, on June 24 you’ll be able to add tickets and make your Disney Park Pass reservations.
Ana says
Got my reservations!!!
Starting July 30… it was similar to selecting fast passes… accessing the site was not trivial but by 2pm it was easy enough
MiMi says
Do you know if on the 24th well be able to purchase park tickets and make park reservations on line?
MiMi says
Sarah your response to Carla was incorrect.
DFB Sarah says
MiMi, the info for June 24 is this: “If you have a room-only reservation at a Disney Resort or other select hotel for a stay in 2021, please call the Disney Reservation Center or call your travel professional beginning on June 24 to upgrade to a vacation package with tickets—and then make your theme park reservations.” It sounds like you’ll have to call, but I think it’ll be worth trying to do online simultaneously.
DFB Sarah says
MiMi, thank you! I edited it.
Sheryl says
Is there a good phone number to call. I’ve tried 3 different ones today and couldn’t get through.
We have reservations for All Star Movies in July and August. When I got someone on the phone the other day they said wait for Disney to contact us but everything I’ve read says we have to change or be canceled. We don’t want to be canceled. Do you know anything new or can you give us another phone number
DFB Sarah says
Sheryl, the number Disney recommends via their reopening webpage is (407) 939-1936. I’m guessing that is probably the one you already tried. Based on the language I’m pasting below, it sounds like you should be able to modify as needed — assuming you can get through to someone. “Guests with reservations for travel through July 10 may request immediate assistance with modifying their plans for dates in 2020. Those currently traveling July 11 – December 31, 2020 may request assistance beginning Monday, June 22. Modifications into 2021 can be made beginning June 24.”
Ally says
Hi I made a reservation for one of the good neighbors and we’re supposed to be able to book the whole thing but it won’t let us and is capping us off at 3. We’re not sure what to do and we were trying to get them before tomorrow when everyone is able to get reservations.
Emma Adamson says
Hi there
We’re in the UK and have a holiday booked for next April. We have our park tickets but it’s not letting us reserve our days, any idea of the time booking opens today? Thanks
DFB Sarah says
Emma, seems like the system is up now.
DFB Sarah says
Ally, hope it worked out for you this morning!
