The global health crisis has had a pretty big effect on the entertainment industry.
Just last week, we reported that AMC Theatres were working towards a summer reopening. Now, the movie theater chain has announced that they will be opening 450 U.S. locations on July 15th and the remaining 150 on July 24th.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the theaters are opening next month in time to screen Disney’s release of Mulan, initially releasing on July 24th.
AMC movie theaters are reopening on a phased model. Phase 1 (July 15th) will see capacity set at 30%, Phase 2 will see capacity at 40%, and Phase 3 (around Labor Day) will see capacity at 50%. AMC has noted that the theaters may not see full capacities until around Thanksgiving. Of course, there will also be new health and cleanliness measures in the theaters.
AMC CEO Adam Aron noted that they came up with their plan through consultation with The Clorox Company and Harvard University’s School of Public Health. “I cannot emphasize enough,” Aron said, “How much care and attention to detail we have taken in developing AMC Safe & Clean, our absolute commitment to optimizing the health and safety of our theaters for our guests and associates.
Some of the health measures that AMC is implementing include, new protocols for employees, sanitizing between showings, and rearranging concession sales. According to CNN reporter Frank Pallotta, AMC will be requiring guests to wear masks as well.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for any news about the Disney Springs locations, so stay tuned to DFB for all the latest updates!

Requiring guests to wear masks is gonna kill it. They originally didn’t want to do it but were PRESSURED into it. This will be to their demise unfortunately.
