Disney World has released more information for Annual Passholders about the reopening of the theme parks.
With the announcement of the new Disney Park Pass theme park reservation system today, Disney has elaborated on how it will work for Annual Passholders. We knew that Passholders would be limited in the new system, but now we know more about the protocols. Disney World Passholders will be limited to 3 days of theme park reservations at one time.
Disney added a new section to the Annual Passholder information page today. The new information includes that it may be difficult for Annual Passholders to get park reservations based on availability, some pass benefits and features will not be available, and Passholders will be eligible to make theme park reservations for up to 3 days at a time.
Keep in mind that Passholders staying at select Disney World Resorts or other select hotels with valid admission will be able to make reservations for their entire length of stay. Blockout dates do apply, so you will not have park admission or be able to make reservations for those days.
We will be keeping a close eye out for any more information that we can share about Annual Passholder protocols. Check back in with DFB for all the latest updates.

Carrie says
I have a 5-day stay on property in August. If I make reservations for all these days, will I NOT be able to make any other reservations? In other words, as an annual passholder, will I still get three days outside of the reservation. My fear is that I won’t, because this is how the fast pass system worked.
LC says
I have a current 3 night resort reservation for December and am an annual pass holder. My understanding is that I can go online on June 22 and should be able to get park reservations for that trip… I am assuming length of stay includes check in and check out day. But, then it seems like I will not be able to make any other park reservations after that trip even though I am a passholder? What if I want to go again in, say, February 2021? It seems like that may not be possible if I’m not eligible to reserve additional park days until after I use my days in December… what if the parks are all booked up by then?
Alyson says
I’m an APholder and have three resort stays planned this year. Does this mean I’ll only be able to get park reservations for my trips and won’t be able to do any day trips? I’ll be very disappointed if this is the case. We usually do a combination of resort stays and day trips.
Mg says
My family and I are passholders. I have been a passholder for many years in the past. This is sad that the magic is gone. I want to know if we can get our money back? My husband I pay monthly and my son and daughter in law paid full. Are passes started Jan. 29 of this year. We only got to use the passes four times and then the parks closed. It looks like it will be almost impossible for us to get reservations and now with no parades, fireworks, no characters, and no more magic bands that I feel we are wasting our money. I would like all of my family to get a refund and try another year. Hope we can so we can experience the magical Disney we use to know.
Robert says
I don’t want to sound picky but is Disney giving any consideration to the type of annual pass someone has, that is silver, gold, platinum or platinum plus as far as getting a reservation to one of the parks. Since some passes are considerably more expensive than others what advantage would there be to pay for a more expensive pass?
Jarvis says
Has Disney issued any information as to how far in advance annual passholders can make reservations?
Jim Anthony says
If i have a 4 day pass but staying at SSR for 21 days can I only book 4 days or can I book ebry day and pick and choose which day I go.
DFB Sarah says
Robert, the Disney Park Pass page does not specify different types of Annual Passes.
DFB Sarah says
Mg, here’s the Annual Passholder page, which might have answers for you. Otherwise, your best bet to get information is going to be to call Disney directly.
DFB Sarah says
Jim, you’re going to have to pick specific days to use your tickets in the Parks.
DFB Sarah says
Jarvis, I have not seen this yet. The only “cut-off date” I have seen regarding reservations is September 26, 2021.
DFB Sarah says
Alyson, you’ll have to make a Disney Park Pass reservation for the day trips, too. So they’ll likely require some advance planning. We really won’t get a sense of how spontaneous you will be able to be until the system is running for a bit.
DFB Sarah says
LC, I’m not sure that you WON’T be able to make your three regular AP Disney Park Pass reservations in addition to the reservations you make for your Resort stay. I haven’t seen information about guests with multiple planned stays being prohibited from making reservations for those confirmed reservations. I think, in theory, you could make three Park Pass reservations without a Resort reservation, use those, then make three more (maybe even making them one at a time as you use them up), on and on. The limitation comes in the availability of those Disney Park Pass reservations, which you rightly point out could get booked up in advance. So when you make a Resort reservation, your AP should make you eligible to make Park Pass reservations AND you should still be able to make your non-Resort stay Park Pass reservations, too.
DFB Sarah says
Carrie, we don’t know this for sure, but I expect you’ll be okay for both. Let me pose this to the team so we can get an answer.
Kristin says
Same situation as Carrie: my resort reservations for Christmas week, which I received the email from Disney indicating I’ll be able to book park days for on Monday the 22nd. But I really hope that these reserved park days won’t keep me from making my 3 at a time park day reservations prior to then. That would render the next several months of AP access as useless. However, since my resort visit is Christmas week, I’ll want to make those park day reservations as early as I can, I’m not willing to chance those days until later in the year in case the reservations fill up.
Charmaine says
We have a DVC Reservation in August, my husband and I are AP’s but the rest of our party are not. Will we be able to make park Reservations for our whole party at the same time?
DFB Sarah says
Charmaine, if they have confirmed tickets, yes. Otherwise, they can’t make theirs until they have confirmed tickets. Here’s the language from Disney: If you have a room-only reservation at a Disney Resort or other select hotel for a stay in 2021, please call the Disney Reservation Center or call your travel professional beginning on June 24 to upgrade to a vacation package with tickets—and then make your theme park reservations.
DFB Sarah says
Kristin, I’ve posed this to the team, so hopefully we can get an answer ASAP. My hunch is you’ll be fine, but it’s not been addressed by Disney.
Charmaine says
Thanks for your response Sarah. All of our guests have tickets so hopefully there won’t be any issues.
DFB Sarah says
Charmaine, good luck!
Mg says
Thank you Sarah for the information.
Jesse says
Every day that goes bye. All the new information that keeps being released. I’m sorry, but, Disney is killing the original Walt Magic! I get the whole safety thing. But I’m sorry Walt , I believe, would be so irate at the way Disney is leaving a large portion of their loyal Passholders I the dark! I am very close to the point of canceling all Disney passes and future plans with them. Honestly, I hear people saying they don’t want the ‘magic’ to leave Disney. I think at this point, it’s…already….GONE. I live within 2 hours of Disney and I’ve heard and talked with many other Passholders who are in the process or legitimately planning on canceling their passes and looking elsewhere. Changing the whole resort theme park getaway to other alternatives. I hate to leave but truly, Disney’s lack of loyalty to Annual Passholders is inexcusable. Hands down, inexcusable.
Dez says
Did I miss them explaining how often you can make those three dates reservations? I understand you can reserve three days per time, but how many times can we make reservations for those three dates? Once a month? Once every two weeks? Only three days until the end of the year?
And we missed making our annual Christmas resort stay trip reservations. We usually do it in March/April when we’re sure of the dates we can attend. When can we make those?
Thank you for providing all this info!
Alyson says
My original question was meant to be the same question as Carrie’s and Kristin’s (which I know you’re looking into). 🙂
Here’s my take on it so far:
The Disney website says, “ All Annual Passholders are eligible to make Theme Park reservations for up to 3 days at a time, or Annual Passholders staying at select Disney Resort or other select hotels with valid Theme Park admission are eligible to make Theme Park reservations for their entire Resort length of stay.” The “or” implied to me that if I reserve the park days for my resort trip, I won’t get my “3 days at a time” rendering my AP useless (except for my resort stay). I called Disney last night. The woman I spoke with did not know if I would get 3 days at a time in addition to my reserved resort days. The big “or” in their statement and the lack of confirmation from Disney when I called has me very concerned. 🙁
Thanks for looking into it for us! 🙂
Donna says
We have reservations starting Thanksgiving Day 2020 for 13 nights but can’t make theme park reservations since we don’t have tickets yet. Seems crazy we will be there that long and are unable to buy theme park tickets. What more would we be doing for almost 2 weeks??!!
Also, no dining plan? Are they even thinking about bringing it back at all this year? So, how do we know where to make plans if we don’t know what park we will be at if we even get a chance to buy tickets? Annual passholders I thought had NO blockout dates if you buy the more expensive pass.
We really don’t want to cancel, but this is so disappointing. We were going to go to one park during the day or Universal then come to the Christmas party afterwards. This is so sad…
Rachel says
It indicates that APs can Reserve 3 days “at a time.” Is there any detail as to how often that time is so we are able to make reservation for multiple trips?
DFB Sarah says
Rachel, Disney says “All eligible Passholders can make theme park reservations for up to 3 days at a time”. We take that to mean three days WITHOUT a Resort reservation. If you have a Resort reservation, we expect you can book your Disney Park Pass for the duration of your confirmed Disney Resort stays. If you’re just looking to make AP Disney Park Pass reservations without a Resort stay, it sounds like you can do three days at a time — what we DON’T know is if you can grab a new reservation as soon as you use one of your original three. Does that make sense? We will try to clarify this when the system goes live.
DFB Sarah says
Donna, since you have a Resort reservation, you would be eligible to purchase tickets and make Disney Park Pass reservation on June 24 — this coming Wednesday. As for DDP, we don’t know. Disney has said it’s suspended, but there’s no timeline for its return.
DFB Sarah says
Alyson, thanks for that take. The “or” does make it sound like that. I’ll reiterate to the team that we need to confirm this tomorrow.
DFB Sarah says
Dez, my thinking is that once you use the three reservations you have, you can make more. Possibly you can make a new Disney Park Pass reservation once you use the first one (so, basically, my thinking is you might be able to keep three active ones at all time, filling in a new date when you use one of the reservations — does that make sense?), but we need to confirm this. As for the Christmas Resort stay: Disney says later this summer they’ll open reservations for the duration of 2020. It sounds like they’re trying to see how much availability they’ll have based on their lower capacity. We will update when those reservations open!
Donna Shaw says
Thank you for letting me know. I spoke to 2 cast members on mydisneyexperience yesterday and they did not have a future date. I hope this works out!!
DFB Sarah says
Donna, you’re welcome. Here’s the page with the info I was referring to, so you can check the it yourself, too.
Dez says
Thank you Sarah! I know Disney is trying to be as clear as they can, but some of their wording has been a little ambiguous. I really hope you’re right and that when we use one day out of three, we can make another day reservation, and not have to clear all three before we make more.
Also, I’ve got another question (sorry!)
My updated pass on the system is wrong. My pass was set to expire on my birthday, which was March 29th. I upgraded from silver to Gold when I renewed early in the end of February. I should have 12 days left on the silver pass before my gold pass kicked in, but now, after they adjusted the dates to “skip” the closed dates, I’ve got about 6 weeks of Silver left before I get my Gold pass. Any thoughts?
DFB Sarah says
Dez, I’m not sure what to make of how they’ve credited your Silver Pass. You may need to contact Disney (or VIPassholder services) to see if they can clarify that for you. I’m so hopeful we’ll get an answer for you tomorrow with regard to the reservations. Happy to try to answer any questions you have!
MiMi says
How many park reservation days should I get if I check in on a Saturday and out the next Saturday, 7 or 8?
DFB Sarah says
MiMi, I would expect “length of stay” to include check in and check out days.
Mat says
I have multiple 4 day stays booked. I got park reservation for 3 days of one stay and for 1 day of another stay and it now tells me I have hit my max number of days. I’m also a Passholder. Must be a mistake?
DFB Sarah says
Mat, I think so. Hopefully this will be ironed out today.
Donna Shaw says
The June 24th date I was told is ONLY for guests making reservations for 2021 and cast member is saying there are NO dates yet to purchase tickets for Fall 2020. Maybe on June 28th?
DFB Sarah says
Donna, you’re right about the 2021 reservations on June 24. New ticket sales and Resort reservations for 2020 are expected “later this summer.” We have heard from a reader that Disney told her it could be as soon as next week, but we have no confirmation of that. We will update when we know!
Andrew Sanderson says
The three day “glitches” – Disney’s word – is still there. It is not letting passholders book beyond the three days. IT is “working on it” but there seems to be no timeframe where they expect to have a fix…
Donna E Shaw says
So anxious to see! Thanks for the update 🙂
Taylor says
Do you know about AP who booked resort reservations, do we get 3 passholder days ON TOP OF our hotel reservations? I keep seeing some people can and some people can’t, but i can’t get through to Disney to ask (I’ve called hundreds of times since Monday!)
DFB Sarah says
Taylor, we’re seeing a little bit of both from readers and followers, too. It seems like there’s not much consistency.
Kristin says
I have a different flavor of AP glitch, it seems. I was able to make length of stay park reservations for a resort stay later in the year, but today I ran into the “not so fast” message when I tried to book my 3 AP days for an offsite visit. It told me I was maxed out. So I tried dropping the last day of my resort trip and after that I WAS able to make a day reservation…but only one! It seems that I max out at 9 reservable days. They opened a ticket with Disney IT for me, so now I wait.
DFB Sarah says
Kristin, I’m curious to hear what Disney says about this. Some of our team members have also noticed they could make non-Resort DPP when they dropped a Resort day (or more than one).
Kristin says
I’ll report back when I hear anything!
Cynthia says
I was only able to book three days of a four day three night resort stay in a Fort Wilderness cabin. The Disney cast member said I can only book for the number of nights not days of my stay. I have six people staying in the cabin. Two gold annual pass holders, two with three day tickets and two that have no tickets. I wanted to use the forth day with my daughter and our annual passes while the other four in my party stayed at the cabin but the system said we reached our limit. Which also means we cannot have three days in addition to our Resort stay.
Any one able to book the entire length of their stay including days and not night only?
DFB Sarah says
Cynthia, I believe we have team members who were successful booking full length-of-stay, so I do think it’s possible.
