We know there’s been some confusion over the 14-day self-quarantine order which requires all New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut residents traveling to Florida to self-quarantine for two weeks upon entry into the state, which, at time of press, is still in effect.
And we already know Disney World is taking every precaution to ensure its guests aren’t experiencing any symptoms of illness and requiring all resort guests regardless of which state they’re coming from to complete a Health Acknowledgment prior to their stay.
But now it appears things are getting even more complicated regarding travel to AND FROM these three states. That’s because in addition to completing a required two-week quarantine upon arriving in Florida from one of the tri-states, travelers are now ALSO being required to complete a 14-day quarantine when they return to one of the tri-states from a number of states with high-infection rates. Theme park reporter Scott Gustin just confirmed this order on his Twitter account.
NEW: NY, NJ and Conn. just announced a 14-day quarantine for travelers from states with surging coronavirus cases.
"We are announcing a joint travel advisory. People coming from states with a high infection rate must quarantine for 14 days. "

The new criteria for the travel advisory that has been established is 10 infections per 100,000 residents on a seven-day rolling average or 10 percent of the state’s total population infected on rolling seven day average. Since Florida’s cases exceed this threshold, Cuomo has announced New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut residents must self-quarantine upon their return home after visiting the state of Florida. This means completing a required two weeks of self-quarantine BEFORE and AFTER your stay.
But tri-state residents aren’t the only people who will be impacted by this travel advisory. The order pertains to all individuals traveling through these states.
“We are announcing a joint travel advisory. People coming from states with a high infection rate must quarantine for 14 days,” Cuomo said earlier today. This travel advisory includes not only travel to Florida, but the other eight states listed above as well.
We’ll continue to provide more updates on this developing travel advisory for tri-state residents.

So just don’t go out of your house. Funny how Florida still has the restrictions on the tri-state area when their infection rate is lower than Florida’s now! Makes no sense!

I live in NY, just outside of Manhattan, and I understand why an additional quarantine is being implemented, but that doesn’t mean I like it!
We have trips books in August, Sept., and October. Hopefully we can go on one of them eventually!

How is Disney making sure people quarantine when they arrive if from one of those 3 states? Seems hard to do?
Kim says
It seems like the Florida governor is doing this because the tri-states (NY, NJ and CT) are saying there is a 14-day quarantine for visitors from states that have a high rate of the virus….because they are not doing the right thing! Shame on this Florida governor!

Kim , Florida put a two week quarantine on NY( where I’m from on Long Island ) NJand CT WEEKS ago….then once recent rising Florida #s he implemented a quarantine on ppl coming FROM Florida. So now my universal Orlando annual passes? Stupid to go and is wasting….2 wks in Florida quarantine, wk vacation, then when I return I have to have ANOTHER TWO WEEK QUARANTINE!?!!? Who can do that?? 5 weeks!!!!????? And universal isn’t understanding this!

This will be interesting since some are reading it as “pay back” for the Florida ban that expires July 7th. Everything I’ve read indicates Florida never really enforced its quarantine requirement so it became a suggestion, not backed by government enforcement. NY Gov Cuomo says he will impose hefty fines, but most legal experts say that will never hold up because of the difficulty in enforcing the order and the probable constitutional challenge should NY actually fine anyone. The primary impact may be to scare people from the tri-state area into avoiding higher risk states.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I can’t take three weeks of vacation time so I can self-quarantine in FL two weeks before I go to WDW on vacation. And then take two more weeks off after that to quarantine when I return home!
Madelyn says
All these issues have arisen because people are being stupid. After the bars reopened, and the recreation areas allowed tubing on the rivers and swimming in the lakes, the infection rate went up exponentially two weeks later.
