PLAY! Pavilion in Walt Disney World's EPCOT

Disney has announced that a brand new pavilion — PLAY! — is on the way to Walt Disney World’s EPCOT as part of the park’s historic transformation!

UPDATE: The PLAY! pavilion, which was designated on the previous EPCOT park map, has been removed from the newest version of the map (as of January 2023). Status of the PLAY! pavilion is currently unknown, but we will keep you posted if and when we learn more!

The new PLAY! pavilion will present playful and innovative opportunities for FUN in a “city” setting — all inside the previous Wonders of Life pavilion.

Wonders of Life becoming Play! Pavilion

The “digital metropolis” will feature interactive experiences, games, entertainment, hands-on activities… AND favorite Disney characters, both virtual and real!

Examples of experiences guests will have in the pavilion include helping fashion icon Edna Mode from The Incredibles “on her quest to rid the world of uninspired style.” Guests may also compete in a water balloon fight hosted by Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby!

Zach Riddley, portfolio executive, Walt Disney Imagineering has shared: “This innovative, new pavilion is beyond anything we’ve ever created and is completely unique to Epcot. Built on the power of play, it introduces an immersive and interactive ‘city’ where you can explore, create, and interact with some of your favorite Disney characters. This is an experience worthy of our bold vision for Epcot – and another signature element of our transformation.”

The PLAY! Pavilion was originally slated to open in time for the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort (October 1, 2021). However, several projects around Walt Disney World met with delays due to the 2020 temporary closure of the resort in response to the global health crisis, and a revised opening timeline has not yet been announced.

When it opens, PLAY! will join other new experiences such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Space 220 and more (including long-standing attractions Mission: SPACE and Test Track) in World Discovery — a new neighborhood in the area previously known as EPCOT’s Future World.
