As we explore Magic Kingdom for the first time since mid-March today, we’ve been on the lookout for the locations where guests can temporarily take a break from their face masks — otherwise face masks must be worn at all times by all guests over the age of two for the entirety of their visit.
Other than when guests are seated in restaurants, Disney World’s “relaxation stations” are currently the only spots where guests can remove their face coverings while inside the theme parks. Face masks can be lowered if you’re enjoying a snack or drink, too! Let’s take a look at where you can find these mask-free spots and we’ll keep updating this post as we visit the rest of the Disney World theme parks!
Previously, we’ve spotted similar mask-free locations in Universal Orlando’s theme parks which they refer to as “URest Areas.” There is a limit to how many guests are allowed inside each relaxation station at one time, but we weren’t given specifics. Once your inside, you can relax without your mask on for as long as you’d like! But while there is no official time limit, we were told they encourage no more than 30 minutes if it’s busy.
So far, Cast Members have been stationed at each of the relaxation stations we’ve visited to ensure guests were socially distancing themselves while their face masks were removed. We also saw hand sanitizer stations were set up near the entrance!
Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom has three relaxation stations located throughout the park.
Adventureland
This relaxation station is located conveniently between Adventureland and Frontierland next to A Pirates Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas and the quick service dining location, Golden Oak Outpost. The restaurant will remain closed for the time being so its seating area can be used as a relaxation station instead.
Although there’s no covered awning, partial shade provided by the trees and shrubbery. Golden Oak Outpost’s tables and chairs are available for use and guests may sit without their face coverings while social distancing.
Since the tables at this relaxation station are fixed (can’t be moved around) there are markers on which tables aren’t available for guests to use.
Tomorrowland
On the other side of the park, Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant is also being used as a relaxation station while the dining location itself remains closed.
The partially-enclosed area is open-air but provides ample protection from the sun. You’ll find lots of seating in this spacious dining area with plenty of tables and chairs.
Fantasyland
Magic Kingdom has one additional relaxation station found at Pete’s Silly Sideshow in Storybook Circus where character greetings used to occur before the closures.
Guests can choose to either at an available table or stand on an open circle marker on the floor. The room is fully enclosed and air-conditioned.
Note: Magic Kingdom’s new maps show where each of the three relaxation stations can be located.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Disney’s Animal Kingdom provides guests with two relaxation stations.
Discovery Island
The closest relaxation station to the entrance and Pandora: The World of Avatar can be found at the dining location Pizzafari.
The restaurant is currently closed so that guests may use its tables and chairs. When we stopped by, there wasn’t a Cast Member attending this location, but it could’ve just been a shift change. We’ll check back on this location soon.
Asia
The other relaxation station at Disney’s Animal Kingdom can be found on the other side of the park. It’s called Upcountry Landing and overlooks the waterways.
It’s quickly become our favorite rest station because we got to see two Character Cavalcades come by in quick succession! It was like having our own private jam session with the Discovery Island Drummers!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
We stopped by two Relaxation Stations in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
You’ll find a Relaxation Station in Hollywood Studios in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
You can relax and sit for a spell with the umbrellas to provide shade from the planet Batuu’s three suns.
Star Wars Launch Bay
The Star Wars Launch Bay over in Animation Courtyard actually has an indoor AND outdoor area for its Relaxation Station.
However, because it was raining when we popped over, the outdoor area was not in use at the time.
And that brings us to…
EPCOT
So far, we have spotted two out of three Relaxation Stations in EPCOT (and we will continue to update this post as we stop by the third, which should be located near the Germany pavilion).
Future World
Future World hosts a Relaxation Station. You’ll notice the distancing markers on the ground as you approach.
This one is located near Test Track and Mission: SPACE.
United Kingdom
You can see the inviting shade of the umbrellas covering the tables in the United Kingdom pavilion’s Relaxation Station.
This one is just steps away from Yorkshire County Fish Shop.
Norway
The last EPCOT location is inside Akershus Royal Banquet Hall restaurant in Norway. The restaurant is usually a character dining buffet and is being repurposed as the relaxation station for the time being.
Guests are asked to sanitize their hands before entering the main dining room.
Some tables are marked as unavailable so travel groups aren’t sitting near each other.
Those are all the relaxation zones at Walt Disney World. We’ll keep you updated if more are added in the future, but for now, check out what it’s like to ride the monorail to newly reopened Magic Kingdom!

Do you have an upcoming trip to Disney World planned? Let us know in the comments!
JC says
Did you notice if the relaxation station tables and chairs are being sanitized after each use?
Sherrick McCray says
My family had a 2020 trip planned to Disney. We will not return until the mask rule is rescinded in full.
Essie says
These maskless test stations r a good idea. I get heat exhaustion very easily so being in a mask in tropical heat would b very bad on me. I want every one to b safe, but a break without the mask would b helpful 4 those with heat issues.
Shelly says
Is there a specific amount of time people are allowed to stay?
DFB Sarah says
Shelly, at this point we haven’t seen time limits.
Kim says
My family and I were at WDW recently. The only relaxation station we used was the one at Pete’s Silly Sideshow. The day we were at MK, it was particularly hot. I should note that we are frequent snackers so several other times throughout our day, we got snacks, found somewhere cool or shady to sit, and removed our masks then. There are ways to take mask breaks.

can you eat snacks your bring into the parks at a relaxation station?
DFB Sarah says
Richard, you can!
