A LOT has changed in Disney World over the past few months, and we’re finally back in the parks to experience it.
One of the biggest changes has to do with HOW we get into the parks. A park ticket alone doesn’t cut it anymore. Instead, entry requires valid admission AND a Disney Park Pass reservation to help limit capacity. Which led us to wonder — what if we want a mid-day break? Can you LEAVE a reopened Disney Park and return the same day? We’ve got answers!
During the Annual Passholder Preview in Magic Kingdom, we reached out to a Guest Experience Cast Member to learn a little bit more about the Disney Park Pass and theme park entry procedures. As it turns out, YES! You can leave and come back to the same park in the same day with no problem.
Keep in mind that you WILL have to go through temperature and security screening each time you reenter the park, but otherwise you won’t have an issue. Mid-day breaks, here we come! If you’ve got more questions about the Disney World reopening, feel free to leave them in the comments and we’ll do our best to get you an answer!

K says
Can you enter a park, leave, and then later on enter a different park if you have a dinner reservation there?
DFB Sarah says
K, you can not go to a second Park. You will not be able to leave one Park and go to another for an Advance Dining Reservation as long as the Disney Park Pass is implemented as it is currently.
Annie says
Hi, how is the DAS pass working?
DFB Sarah says
Annie, we’ve noted DAS signage for rides, and we have a post with details forthcoming!
Allexis says
Do you need to sow something other than your AP at the gate? How do they know you have the park reservation? Are they linked somehow?
Thanks!
Camilla says
Does this apply to people who doesn’t have park hopper tickets? Like, we have regular tickets that allows us to visit one park per day, are we allowed to reenter although we weren’t allowed to before this pandemic?
Kristine Shay says
Then a park hopper pass is not needed? I hope it changes due May of next year had to reschedule until then
Kathy says
I am unable to go through security scanners that utilize x-ray technology because I have an insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor (CGM). Can you tell me if the new security scanners utilize x-ray and if so, will there be a place I can go through to have my bag searched? I assume since people with pacemakers can’t go through the x- ray scanners that the tech is different for the new scanners, or they have a ‘work around’, but I’d like to know what to expect of possible. THANK YOU for all you do to keep us informed. You are the BEST!!!
Lorine says
Can you leave the park to go to a ADR at a resort then return?
DFB Sarah says
Lorine, yes, we’ve checked on leaving and returning and have been told it’s fine!
DFB Sarah says
Kathy, I’m checking with the team!
DFB Sarah says
Kristine, Park Hoppers are suspended right now, so you can only enter one Park per day and return to the same Park if you leave for rest/an ADR/etc.
DFB Sarah says
Camilla, you can only ‘reenter’ the Park you left earlier in the day. No one can currently hop from one Park to another.
DFB Sarah says
Allexis, they should be linked in the system. You might want to bring a printed confirmation or something from your MDE, but we have not had trouble with that.
Frank says
Thanks everyone at DFB for finally getting this answered! Awesome news mid-day breaks are a must with little ones so this is good news !!! Awesome work as usual all !!
Thank you frank
Alissa says
What happens to people who reserved but don’t show, is there a wait list to enter?
DFB Sarah says
Alissa, I don’t know the answer to this. Let me see if anyone on the team knows.
DFB Sarah says
Our pleasure, Frank!
Disney says
What if anything will Disney do about people that have paid for park hopper passes that can not be used, as they are not allowing park hopping?
DFB Sarah says
Disney, here’s what Disney World says about PH: At this time, Guests will only be able to visit one park per day. If you have a ticket that includes the Park Hopper Option or Park Hopper Plus Option, we have several options available to you:
Ticket Extension: You may use your current date-based ticket by September 26, 2021 with the existing add-on options, should the options return by that date.
Ticket Modification: Resort Packages with tickets may be modified or cancelled. To discuss your options, please call the Disney Reservation Center at (407) W-DISNEY or (407) 934-7639, or contact your travel professional.
Ticket Cancellation: If you do not want to use your ticket, you also have the option of cancelling your ticket or package. To discuss your options, please call the Disney Reservation Center at (407) 566-4985, or contact your travel professional.
Ale says
Great news! Any idea when the boats will start running? Staying at Boulder Ridge in February:)
Lindsay says
Can you still leave the park and come back if you are not staying at a Disney World Resort Hotel?
DFB Sarah says
Lindsay, yes! As long as you don’t scan into another park (Park Hopping), you can come and go to the Park at which you made your DPP reservation.
