Earlier, Tropical Storm Isaias was upgraded to Hurricane Isaias and the eastern coast of Florida remains in its potential path.

With Hurricane Isaias pressing northwest in the Atlantic, the U.S. National Weather Service has just issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Orlando, Florida in effect until Saturday, 1:00 AM EDT.

Florida Warnings

The Category 1 hurricane continues to bombard the Bahamas, including Nassau, Freeport, and the Abacos Islands, where flooding due to heavy rainfall is expected. Now, the system will likely be making landfall on the southern tip of Florida, affecting various regions of the state as early as tonight.

It’s possible Hurricane Isaias could potentially strengthen and be upgraded again (to a Category 2 hurricane), and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed an order issuing a state of emergency for 19 eastern counties in Florida earlier today. At this time, Orange and Osceola counties (where Disney World resides) are not included in the state of emergency order, although a few inland Florida counties are.

As of now, officials do not foresee the storm will require the use of their shelters, but they strongly caution those in the path of Hurricane Isaias to be prepared. Make sure you have provisions at the ready and power outages are likely to occur.
