There’s a NEW way to dine in Disney World!
Walk-up dining at table-service restaurants hasn’t really been a thing since Disney World reopened. It’s usually a good idea to have a reservation for table-service restaurants, but in a post-closure Disney World, it’s been pretty much mandatory. Now, though, that’s all changed with the NEW Mobile Dine Walk-up Waitlist feature in the My Disney Experience app!
To use the new Mobile Dine Walk-up Waitlist feature, select “Check Dining Availability” from the menu in the My Disney Experience app.
From there, you can select your party size and your date if you’re making a reservation. But for walk-ups, you’ll want to select today’s date!
Under the “Search by Time” section, select the “Now” button to see the available Walk-up Lists. At the top, the app will show you available walk-ups near you if there are any, but you can scroll down to see a full list of available walk-ups.
The only restaurants listed this morning were Kona Cafe, Sanaa, Topolino’s Terrace, and Whispering Canyon Cafe; but we may see more spots added to this feature in the coming days. For most of the locations, the walk-up list was “currently unavailable to join due to high demand.”
When you select an individual restaurant, you can see this message as well.
Whispering Canyon Cafe had some availability though! To join the walk-up list, you have to be close to the restaurant. The app feature shows an estimated wait based on a party of four (no matter how large a party you selected in the app).
The app noted that “additional dining locations may have availability, but do not offer a walk-up list via the app.” So, when in doubt, check with the Cast Members at the restaurant to see if they’re accepting walk-ups.
We’re pretty excited that walk-up dining is an option in Disney World again. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this feature to see if more restaurants are added and if there are any updates so stay tuned to DFB for the latest news!

Wish I had know about this checking for availability last week when we were there. I can’t find in the app to bring up the check for dining availability. Where is it when you open the app? I don’t see any option on my app and my app shows updated on my phone.
DFB Sarah says
Stephanie, the feature disappeared late yesterday. We’ll be watching to see if it returns. The space we saw it in was on the page where you check for available times for the restaurant. There was a “Now” button.
Jackely says
Do have to be at the Hotels where the dining experience is at? ( i.e. do I have Disney Contemporary Resort to check the wait list for Chef Mickey’s) or just in the Orlando area?
DFB Sarah says
Jackely, you can see waitlist availability even when you’re not near the restaurant, but you can’t check in or be added to a virtual queue or anything like that until you’re in the vicinity.
