Disney World is in a constant state of change.
Sometimes, those changes boil down to refurbishments on beloved and long-standing attractions. We’ve seen permits that might point to some upcoming refurbs in Magic Kingdom and now, Disney has announced that TWO Magic Kingdom attractions will be closing for lengthy refurbishments.
According to the Walt Disney World refurbishment calendar, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat will be closing for refurbishment on October 5th.
Currently, the refurbishment is listed through January 2nd; both attractions have “No Times Available” every day from October 5th through the end of the calendar, April 2nd.
We’re not sure what this refurbishment entails, but it is fairly regular for Liberty Square Riverboat to close for a little TLC every year or so. Stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates like when Disney announces an end date for the refurbishment!

It’s funny, I never bothered with the Liberty Square River Boat when I went on a trip, but one time when I was meeting friends and I had time to kill, I got on it. I loved it, and now whenever I can get there I always ride on the river boat.
