Disney World Cast Members don’t wear mere uniforms at work. Instead, they wear costumes, all dependent on where they work in the resort.

Those costumes often change, sometimes to go with a specific event, and sometimes to match a certain new aesthetic that Disney World has in mind. And we just spotted a drastic change in the costumes for Cast Members at one Disney World restaurant.
We recently noticed that the Cast Members at Beaches and Cream, which is a fan-favorite diner and ice cream shop between Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, were sporting an entirely new look!
Their previous outfits were so very vibrant and old-fashioned, with rainbow seersucker stripes and puffy sleeves.

However, when we dropped by Beaches and Cream today, we noticed the costumes were completely different! They’ve traded their skirts for gray knee-length culottes.

And bright colors have been replaced by gray slacks. The costumes have also gone from white shoes to black (which totally makes sense because white gets dirty so fast!).

The shirts are a little simpler than before, but we love the sketched style of the stripes! A bright blue bow tie brings the whole look together!

They also have newsboy style hats, although we were told that these were optional. We were also told they’re not currently doing the fun Kitchen Sink announcements (which involves a lot of shouting, something they don’t want customers doing while they’re not wearing face coverings due to potential safety issues).

Beaches and Cream got a refurb last year to expand, so we can’t help but wonder if this is part of that refurb, too — new costumes to bring the whole new concept together.

The vibe at Beaches and Cream is still old-school ice cream parlor, but the update gives it a more modern feel, too. That said, I’m not gonna lie — we’re going to miss those fun, vibrant costumes!
Disney takes its theming seriously, and no detail is ever left to chance, including Cast Member costumes. We’ll keep you updated if we spot any more changes at Disney World!

I am SO glad they get rid of those draggy-skirted, oversized-looking costumes!!! (Sorry – I know you DFB guys liked them.) For yeeeeears I have cringed at how awful they made cast members look. Ugh! The new ones fit in much better with the updates at the Yacht Club, too. I trust they’re going for vaguely sophisticated (yay!) rather than painfully awful (‘bye old icky costumes!) 😀
The former costumes represent Beaches and Cream better. The shorts are dorky the grey pants are hideous and bow ties look stupid on girls. Wrong move!
Awww.. that’s too bad, they look like they work in a cafeteria now instead of an old fashioned ice cream parlor. Disney’s changes are getting more sad by the day.
