Disney World has been open for a few months, but that doesn’t change the fact that many policies are still evolving in the interest of guest health and safety.
The face mask policy in the resort has seen several changes since the parks reopened. Just last week, Disney introduced new signs and announcements in the parks noting that guests who refuse to wear a mask will be asked to leave. Now, Disney has updated the language online as well.
In an update to the Disney World Park Pass Reservation information page today, Disney notes that guests who are unable to observe the face mask policy (wear a face covering over your nose and mouth at all times except in designated areas) should “please reschedule your Walt Disney World visit to a later time.”
At this time, Disney is pushing to be more strict when it comes to mask regulations in the parks. For those who are unable to wear a face mask or simply refuse, Disney is now blatantly asking guests to reschedule for a later time. And in the parks, they have stated that guests will be asked to leave if need be. Noncompliance in the parks may have inspired this adjustment in language.
As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest update about Disney World’s face mask policy and more. We’ll be keeping an eye out for any more changes.

Soooo….do they have any intentions of removing this requirement in the near future or will we be faceless people in the crowd forever?
Richard says
This is a great way to lose customers. Aren’t you hurting financially enough? Give people the freedom to make their own choice to wear a mask. Florida is open, right?
Ricky Kinney says
If a guest is asked to leave after non-compliance with the mask requirement, does that mean they forfeit their ticket to the park or will it still be usable for a future visit?

I was at Disney in August and the heat index was 104 I was really anxious about wearing the mask but actually it wasn’t as bad as I expected. With that said it was super hot bu we took numerous breaks at relaxation points and sat at a table and had a cool drink but it’s all in what U make it. I believe the mask will be with us for awhile. I don’t like them but we have to go with the flow or wait until another time to go visit Mickey.

I am an annual passholder and have been for quite awhile. I also take care of elderly parents and am no spring chicken myself. I was looking forward to using my pass until I heard people talking about how they “got away with no masking and bragged about getting around the precautions”. I live near a “very large senior community in central Florida” and have run in to enough people here not cooperating quoting the Governor and Mr. Trump that if you are older or compromised you should follow precautions but the rest should just do what they want”. My folks have followed all of the precautions since this started. I’m glad to see that Disney is trying to make it safe for ALL of their guests. It’s a big job without cooperation. I can’t risk exposing others after some of us have worked so hard for the good of all. It amazes me that doing the simple things asked of us for the good of all are so offensive to some of the population. I hope I will get to use my pass before it expires. i know Disney is trying, i just wish other would.

At this point in time I believe it’s Disneyland’s choice to force you to wear a mask outside. Why can’t disneyland follow state guidelines and CDC guidelines and allow people with medical conditions to not be required to wear a mask, and when outside not be required to wear a mask, and when you go inside, into a ride and air conditioning, put it on then. Disney is shooting itself in the foot doing what their doing.

Well when will this ridiculous mask policy end!? Reschedule? How many times?! We already had to use two nights of our DVC points when we didn’t want to go because we were going to lose them. Disney will literally make allowances for everyone except for people who can’t wear masks! Masks are not proven to work and information is coming out now about how most people who had the virus wear full time mask wearers. This is outrageous to me that Disney is enforcing something that should be a personal choice! We are still waiting for our annual pass refund and are seriously considering selling our DVC points! Disney, you are destroying any magic that you may have had left! This Disney family of almost 50 years is awfully disappointed in your recent decisions!

I’m not understanding why some are saying they “can’t” wear a mask, I was there the first 2 weeks of September, over 90 degrees and high humidity almost every day and I wore a mask every day the whole day for the 2 weeks, even though I only have one lung and am on daily chemo! WEAR THE MASK it’s worth it to enjoy Disney!!
Cathy says
I think it is a great idea to spell it right out. If you don’t like the policy don’t come. Good job Disney.
DFB Sarah says
Ricky, I don’t know the answer to this question.
DFB Sarah says
Julie, no end date or timeline has been announced.

If people had worn a mask when health experts said so, instead of following your leaders actions, numbers would be lower, Disneyland would be open and 28,000 cast members would not have been fired. Wear a mask. It saves lives and is respectful.

My family did EVERYTHING that the CDC guidelines required, i.e., wearing the mask, not going anywhere except work, etc., and STILL got Covid!!!! Work locations were social distancing even more than required & sanitizing multiple times a day. This is why people have such a problem being required to wear a mask.
kelly jeanne says
Their company, their rules. You don’t like them, then stay away and let those of us who don’t mind it enjoy the park without your constant complaining. And if CM can put on a Mickey Costume and not complain constantly, guess what? You can wear a mask.
PJ says
I can’t believe this great country that has shown its ability to rise up in the face of adversity, is now whining over something as simple as wearing a mask. Have we really become that undisciplined, selfish and self centered that wearing a mask is really that big a deal? Nobody likes wearing a mask but unfortunately that is the reality of the day currently. It’s a amusement park, so if you can’t follow the current rules, it is their right to put in place, then choose to go at another time when the rules in place are more to your liking. Please stop whining over something as simple as wearing a mask. Simply put, either follow their rules do something else or stay home…….

My 5 year old with autism can not wear a mask. Behaviorally, he is at the 18-24 month old level. Why are children under 2 exempt from the policy, but not him? They spread just as many, if not more germs. We go to Disney every year with a large family group with 7 rooms. We obviously were not able to attend with everyone. It is so frustrating to be excluded time and time again.

I am looking to drop $14,000 on a trip for my extended family, but do not want to because of the forced use of the mask. It was in the parks a few weeks ago and did not enjoy Disney Springs as the fun was overwhelmingly squashed du to the signed and announced messages. I had an ok time in the parks, but the manic was masked.
Greg says
Wife and I just finished a week at the four parks and a few hours at Disney Springs. The only thing that made us comfortable going was Disney’s mask policy.
The parks were pretty crowded by our standards. Most were good at the mask thing, but yes there were some who seemed to want to challenge the system. Like getting in line with food and drinks and keeping the mask down the whole time under the guise of “eating or drinking”. A few just kept their mask down when they thought no Disney workers were watching. There were probably 5 lines where we had to say something to the people behind us when they repeatedly didn’t stop on the 6 foot markers and kept crowding up on us.
It was frustrating to be around those few people that went out of their way to not comply with the requirements when they knew darn well what they were getting into. So here’s a thumbs up for stricter enforcement!
We will soon have to decide whether to renew our passes and endure the frustration along with the fun, or wait for it to be safer again. Tough decision.

I visited WDW in early September as I know that, with the strict mask policies, I would be safe. Cancun is also following an even stricter mask policy, and again, tourists are flocking there as they know they will be safe. Thank-you, Disneyworld, for my safe, wonderful vacation! I’ve already booked another.
Rorco says
So give us the date and we will reschedule.
Margaret says
My husband and I are passholders. We made plans for a big family vacation this December that included our 2 year old granddaughter. Considering the difficulty of making a toddler wear a mask all day, the family decided to reschedule to Dec. 2021. Face masks
are not a problem for us, so my husband and I leave tomorrow for a visit and will go again in Dec. – and will have a great time!
Disney has been very clear on their covid policies and generous concerning cancelations and refunds. So what’s the big deal? If you can’t (or won’t) comply, don’t go!
Megan says
I’m glad Disney is taking this stance. This isn’t about freedom, but keeping everyone safe. It’s the height of selfishness to not wear a mask. Disney is also a private business and has every right to make this mandate.
If you cannot follow the rules, stay home
verna says
to all those people that do not want to wear a mask stay home! I care about the cast members and guest so Iwill wear a mask to protect them because Icare

Why are my comments not posted? You have censored several of them. Do you only post comment that fit your narrative?
DFB Sarah says
Jack, I just hadn’t gotten to this one yet.
Susan Easterday says
I think it’s very frustrating to see comments that assume people that don’t want to wear a mask most of their vacation as “uncaring.” Our school superintendent “magically” got COVID as he implored everyone in the community to wear masks and yet someone in his family gave it to him anyway (assumedly wearing a mask). The cast members are getting entirely too close to everyone because of the outdoor masks. I truly believe if you are compromised then you should stay home. Everyone else should not be responsible for your safety. We have traveled all over since COVID starting and distancing is the answer, I believe. I am understanding and supportive of indoor masks. I was excited to go last week, but the incessant signage, announcements, closures, plus the very hot, sweaty masks was more than I can take again for a while. We are canceling our 20th anniversary trip for next month.
