Several construction and refurbishment projects are going on right now around Disney World.
We’ve been keeping an eye on the refurbishment work going on at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, the TRON coaster construction, the refurbishment of the Magic Kingdom entrance sign, and more. About a month ago, we shared that the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island in Magic Kingdom would be closed for a lengthy refurbishment, and now that refurbishment period has been extended.
Previously, the Disney calendar listed the refurbishment for both Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat through January 2nd. Both attractions also appeared to have “No Times Available” every day from October 5th through the end of the calendar, which was then April 2nd.
Today, however, when we check the Disney calendar, the refurbishment for both attractions is now listed through Sunday, February 28th.
It appears, however, that both attractions are still showing “No times available” through May 6th, 2021 on their individual pages on the Disney World website. We recently saw the refurbishment for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover in Magic Kingdom extended as well. We’ll keep an eye out for more updates on all of the construction going on around Disney World and let you know what we find.

Was quite weird to see all the water drained. I had always wondered if the river boat was on a track – now I know! I hope the extension of the Tom Sawyer island refurb doesn’t mean they take longer to fill the water back up – that black sludge at the bottom is quite stinky! ;P
