Earlier this week, we noticed something a little odd with the Disney World dining reservation system.
On Tuesday, many Disney guests woke up to wide-open availability for hard-to-get dining reservations in Disney World. Later, the entire reservation system went down. Now, a representative from Disney has reached out regarding this glitch.
According to the representative, the sudden availability and subsequent crash of the system were due to a technical difficulty with the system as a whole.
Many guests (our readers and us included!) were able to make coveted dining reservations during this time. Unfortunately, the glitch opened reservations for spots that were full and the reservations cannot be kept while still allowing for social distancing.
Because of this, reservations made due to the glitch will be automatically canceled. Affected guests will receive a $25 digital Disney gift card for the inconvenience.
At this time, the dining reservation system is available once more so new reservations can be made! But sadly, this means that those surprise reservations will be canceled. As always, stay tuned to DFB to be up to date on all the latest Disney World news.

We called Disney earlier to confirm that all our new reservations would be cancelled and the CM confirmed with a supervisor that if any of our reservations were going to be cancelled, it would have happened by now? We made new reservations and then cancelled older ones (with worse times) for many of our most desired meals, including Thanksgiving dinner at California Grill and a dinner at CRT. I’m sick at the thought that we might now have completely lost them! 😩

I was able to get Hollywood & Wine on Tuesday for our December trip. So far, it hasn’t been canceled. When should I be hearing from Disney if it is canceled? I told my daughter that that is the reservation I am most excited about. I was thrilled to get it.

I modified several of my existing reservations and made a few new ones. Today Disney cancelled all of those reservations. I’ve lost everything!

Sadly, I got confirmation today that my ADR was canceled. I also received my $25 e giftcard. I would much rather have H&V, but I will keep trying. Thank goodness I didn’t change any other ADRs.

I not only made new reservations Tuesday, I modified a bunch of our pre existing reservations to new times. They are all gone! It’s horrible! Great, where are we going to spend the gift card…at the hotel quick service for meals 4 days in a row? They need more restaurants open!

I altered the times on 6 of my existing reservations, and true to their word, Disney cancelled them this morning. Unfortunately, they did not rebook my previous reservations so I have now lost out on those 6 meals even though they were booked prior to the glitch. We had booked Be Our Guest and Topolinos along with 4 other hard to get meals for dinner when dining first opened to us, and now those are gone because I altered our dining times.. Not pleased at all.

We had secured some highly coveted reservations for the week of Thanksgiving (like a Topolino’s breakfast and dinner, California Grill for our Thanksgiving dinner, a dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table and more). We tweaked the times of just about every one during the glitch and lost all of them…9 in total. Waited on hold with Disney for 6 hours, and the cast member did her best, so we at least have a couple of meals we can count on, but none of them are at the restaurants we originally wanted. Not to mention that we still have nothing booked for Thanksgiving. So frustrated. Totally understand why they can’t honor the reservations, but for those of us who modified, why couldn’t they just reset to Monday night and give us our old reservations back?!

My kids and I are left heart-broken after this experience. This ruined all the planning we did for our annual Christmas vacation which started 9 years ago. Three months back when I found out I needed to wait on the 60 day window to book dining I was disappointed but waited to book. This is a total mess. The automatic form letters and a 25 dollar gift card only added insult to injury. Furthermore, and worse than a glitch in booking, is the follow-up or lack thereof. I have had countless emails completely ignored for over ten days and counting now. Hour long wait times on the phone only to be transferred time and again. When I did (finally) get Guest Relations, a cast member Taylor stated “I know, it really sucks” and eagerly assisted me in cancelling our Christmas trip entirely stating: “It is for the best. It is not like we are going anywhere so you can come back whenever.” I never imagined in all these years we would see this kind of thing from WDW. I never felt so unimportant or that my experience could matter any less to a company. Under the guise of Covid-19 they tell me this is part of the problem and not their fault but in all honestly, the cost of admission and hotel rates stay pretty firm as the availability, customer service, and experiences are down by 75% by my best estimate. In decades of being a pretty loyal guest and fan, I grew to expect so much more from Disney. For my two children, it is now the most disappointing place on Earth. Such a shame.

Hi, just trying to book reservations for our upcoming visit, in the 60 day window, yesterday, there was availablity, but when trying to book, it would not let me. Spoke to a customer service agent who said there was no availability, yet the website said it was. Told me to try later. Now phoning the site and it says offices are closed and the website is down to reserve
