We’re basically cookie connoisseurs here at DFB. Remember when we brought you an epic comparison of the Hollywood Studios Wookiee Cookie vs the Carrot Cake Cookie?!Â
Well that Carrot Cake Cookie has some NEW competition. We’re pitting Hollywood Studios’ famed Carrot Cake Cookie vs. the new holiday Red Velvet Whoopie Pie! Let’s get ready to rumble!!!
First up, we’ve got the classic Carrot Cake Cookie, which continues to make a lot of our “best of” lists. Originally, we found this at Writer’s Stop then, for a while, at Sweet Spells (which has since closed), but its current preferred location is Trolley Car Cafe in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
This delicious treat is made with two soft cakey carrot cake cookies with delicious cream cheese frosting in the middle. This is basically cookie nirvana if you are a fan of cream cheese frosting. It’s cake, but it’s not. It’s a cookie, but it’s not. It’s just flat out awesome. Plus it’s a hefty size so you get plenty to snack on for a while.
Now let’s look at the Red Velvet Whoopie Pie, which eagle-eyed cookie pros make notice looks an awful lot like the Carrot Cake Cookie! This treat is two Red Velvet cake cookies with cream cheese frosting in the middle. There’s even powdered sugar snow on top!
This whoopie pie is DELICIOUS. There’s a lot of red velvet cake here, but it’s the thick layer of cream cheese frosting in the middle that makes this is a win for us. This is a very rich dessert, though, making it perfect for sharing. And the colorful holiday sprinkles are just a bonus!
When we really break it down, both cookies are so similar it’s almost like the Carrot Cake Cookie got a holiday makeover and they just forgot to add the carrot part to the cake!! You still get two big cakey cookies and all that glorious cream cheese frosting but more…merry? We dig the carrot cake flavor on the OG cookie but the heart wants what the heart wants: cream cheese frosting. And we get that with both cookies!
So which cookie wins the prize? That’s like picking a favorite child, guys. Truth is BOTH are fantastic and, again, VERY similar. If you’re a diehard fan of that carrot cake flavor, the classic CCC (Carrot Cake Cookie, for the pros) is going to take the win for you. We’re going to have to go with the Red Velvet Whoopie Pie, but maybe it’s just because we’re surrounded by Christmas in Disney World right now and can’t help but get into the spirit. You can this hollier jollier cousin of the Carrot Cake Cookie now at the Trolley Car Cafe and Backlot Express for $4.99 through January 4th.
Note: the Carrot Cake Cookie isn’t currently available at Trolley Car Cafe. We spoke to cast members who weren’t sure if or when it would return, but we’ll let you know. Hopefully, it just went on Christmas break and the Red Velvet Whoopie Pie is subbing in!
