You can build your very own droid at the Droid Depot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park!
Droid Depot is an industrial workshop with a collection of droid parts — and visitors can select from those parts to customize their droid.
If you aren’t looking to customize and just want to pick a droid friend from a selection of pre-assembled droids, or simply browse some Droid Depot merchandise, there are options for you as well.
Now, let’s find THE DROID YOU ARE LOOKING FOR…
Build Your Own Droid Experience
If you do choose to build a droid, you’ll choose between two basic models – an R unit (like R2-D2), or a BB unit (like BB-8). Disneyland also offers C-Series units (similar to Chopper from Star Wars: Rebels!).
You’ll receive a blueprint and a basket before you move on to the Parts Station.
The Parts Station is where you’ll select parts from a conveyor belt laden with miscellaneous parts.
Use your blueprint to get one of everything you need!
Next up? The Build Station, where you will use your blueprints and “placemat” instructions to assemble your droid.
A Depot Clerk (a cast member) will help you activate and pair your droid, which will progress through steps for Initializing, Assigning, Formatting, Preparing, and Priming.
When your droid is complete, a Depot Clerk will pair your droid with a remote control, and you and your new sidekick can travel the galaxy together! (Please note: guests are not permitted to use the remote control while in the land.)
Your new astromech droid can use Bluetooth technology to interact with other droids and with the land itself.
Your droid will be able to respond to happenings in the environment of Black Spire Outpost, making this purchase part of the immersive experience of Galaxy’s Edge.

More Droid Customization Options
The Droid Depot also offers optional items for further customization — such as Personality Chips — for an additional cost.
So your droid will be all yours — from nuts to bolts and from beeps to boops!
Another example is the Ferry Droid Accessory Kit which includes dome, dome extender, arms, legs, and oar. (The ferry droid can be seen in The Mandalorian on Disney+)
So, if you’re wanting to add appendages to your droid and make him or her a little EXTRA, you can do so for $69.99.
You can even change out the head of your droid if you would like to purchase a different color or style.
Cost for Droid (without options add-ons)
Disney World’s Hollywood Studios: $119.99 (plus tax) for a Droid from the Build Your Own Droid experience, including its remote and carrying case, with payment due upon booking the experience on the Disney World website or via the My Disney Experience app.
Disneyland: $99.99 (plus tax) for a Droid from the Build Your Own Droid experience, including its remote and carrying case with payment due upon arrival. (Just be aware that you’ll be promoted to enter your Contact information and Credit Card information to complete your booking, and you will be charged a fee in the event of a less than one-day cancelation or no-show.)
Available Discounts
Disney Visa Cardholders may be eligible for a 10% discount at Droid Depot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World’s Hollywood Studios.
Magic Key Holders are eligible for a discount at Droid Depot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park: Inspire Key Holders are eligible for a 20% discount, and Believe, Enchant, and Imagine Key Holders are eligible for a 10% discount.
Reservations and Additional Information
Guests are able — and highly encouraged — to make advance reservations to assemble a Droid, with appointments available 60 days out. These reservations can be made on the Walt Disney World website and Disneyland website. Please be aware that guests need to cancel at least one day prior to their reservation time to avoid being charged the full price of the experience.
Pre-assembled Droids and Merchandise
Even if you are not building your own Droid, you can still visit the Droid Depot to check out and purchase Droid Depot merchandise!
Options even include — you guessed it — MORE droids! For instance, it was exciting to see CB-23 from the animated TV show Star Wars Resistance become available for purchase at Droid Depot.
CB-23 joins some other familiar droid friends…
And if you’ve already built your own droid? Well, you can even give it a bit of a makeover! You can purchase individual heads and bodies at Droid Depot to swap out the pieces from your custom droid.
The shelves at Droid Depot are filled with different colored heads and bodies that fit the custom droids for 15 galactic credits… that’s $15 earth dollars 😉 . The pieces will only fit the custom droids sold at the depot.
